1) Is the Nibco 906 elbow sized for DWV copper or for pressure copper tube?
The 906 is a DWV fitting, made for drain, waste and vent copper systems, not pressure lines. It solders to DWV copper tube and is intended for gravity drainage and venting in both commercial and residential plumbing. If you are piping domestic water or hydronics, you want a pressure-rated wrot copper 45, not this one.
2) What does C x C mean on this Nibco 45-degree elbow?
C x C means both ends are solder cups, so copper tube slides inside each end and is soldered. There are no threads and no hub on either side. If your run needs a threaded or no-hub transition, you will need an adapter fitting downstream of this elbow.
3) What pipe sizes does the Nibco 906 DWV 45 elbow come in?
Four sizes: 1-1/4 inch (H042500), 1-1/2 inch (H042550), 2 inch (H042600) and 3 inch (H042650). All are straight size, meaning both cups are the same diameter, so a reducing 45 is not part of the 906 range. Size by the copper DWV tube you are joining.
4) Is a 45-degree elbow the right choice for offsetting a copper waste stack, or should I use a 90?
A 45, also called a 1/8 bend, changes direction by 45 degrees and is the standard way to build an offset in a drainage stack or to ease flow into a horizontal run. Two 45s with a short nipple between them make a gentler transition than a single 90 and keep solids moving. Use a long-turn 90 or a combination fitting where you actually need a right-angle change of direction.
