1) What pipe sizes does the Nibco 960 DWV 60-degree elbow come in?
Three sizes: 1-1/2 inch (H440300), 2 inch (H440350), and 3 inch (H440400). All are straight size, meaning both ends take the same nominal copper DWV tube, so there is no size reduction through the bend.
2) Is this a solder fitting or a press fitting?
Solder. The 960 elbow is C x C, meaning both ends are solder cups that the copper DWV tube slips into and is soldered. You will need flux, solder and a torch; there is no gasket or press jaw involved.
3) Can I use this copper elbow on a pressurized water line?
No. The 960 is a DWV fitting for drain, waste and vent service only, made to ASME B16.29 for workmanship and material. For potable or pressure piping, use a pressure-rated copper fitting made to ASME B16.22 instead.
4) What is a 60-degree elbow used for on a DWV system?
It's a 1/6 bend, used where you need to change the direction of a drain, waste or vent line by 60 degrees, which is a shallower turn than a 90 and steeper than a 45. Typical use is offsetting a stack or routing a branch around structure while keeping drainage flow moving.
5) Will a 60-degree copper elbow fit copper DWV tube, or does it take Type L?
The cups are sized for nominal copper DWV tube in 1-1/2, 2 and 3 inch. Copper DWV tube and Type L of the same nominal size share the same outside diameter, so the cup accepts either; what differs is wall thickness, not the solder joint.
6) What copper alloy is the Nibco 960 elbow made from?
Wrot copper, ASTM B75 alloy C12200, and dezincification resistant. That's the standard DWV copper alloy, so it solders and behaves the same as the copper DWV tube it joins.
