Nibco H058150 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does Ftg x C mean on the Nibco 907-2 DWV elbow?
Ftg x C means one end is a male fitting end that slips into a solder cup, and the other is a female solder cup that accepts copper tube. That combination is what makes it a street elbow: you can solder it straight into another fitting's hub without adding a short stub of tube. Both ends are solder joints, so no threads are involved.
2) Can I use this DWV 90 elbow on a pressure water line?
No. The 907-2 is a DWV fitting, made for drain, waste and vent only. DWV copper fittings are thinner walled than pressure fittings and are not rated for supply piping. For domestic water use a pressure-rated wrot copper 90 instead.
3) Will this street elbow solder into an existing copper DWV hub, or do I need a piece of tube between?
It goes straight in. The male fitting end is sized to enter a standard DWV solder cup, so you can join fitting to fitting with no tube stub, which is exactly what you want in tight joist bays or behind a fixture where there is no room for a nipple. The opposite end is a cup for the tube run.
4) What pipe sizes does the Nibco 907-2 DWV street elbow come in?
Four sizes: 1-1/4 inch (H058000), 1-1/2 inch (H058050), 2 inch (H058150) and 3 inch (H058200). Those cover the usual DWV runs, 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 for lavatory and fixture arms, 2 inch for kitchen, laundry and vents, 3 inch for stacks and closet drains.
5) Is a 1/4 bend the same thing as this 90-degree elbow?
Same fitting. In DWV language a 90-degree elbow is called a 1/4 bend, and the 907-2 is listed as 90 Deg (1/4 Bend). It turns the line a quarter turn. For drainage flow you would typically use it on vents or where a long sweep is not required by code for the horizontal-to-vertical transition.
6) What copper alloy is the Nibco 907-2 made from and will it hold up in an aggressive water system?
It's wrot copper, ASTM B75 alloy C12200, and it is dezincification resistant because there is no zinc in the alloy to leach out. Material and workmanship follow ASME B16.29. That is the same copper used throughout DWV systems, and it stays serviceable in drainage and vent service where brass fittings can suffer dealloying.
7) Is the Nibco 907-2 approved for commercial jobs or is it residential only?
Both. It's specified for commercial and residential plumbing, and it is made in an ISO 9001 certified facility with material and workmanship per ASME B16.29, which is the reference most commercial DWV specs call out for wrot copper drainage fittings.
8) Does copper DWV pipe count toward a sustainable or LEED-oriented project?
Copper is fully reusable at end of life, which is why it gets specified on sustainability-minded jobs, and the 907-2 is solid C12200 copper with no plating or plastic to separate out at demolition. For a specialty or sustainable distributor stocking green-spec plumbing, wrot copper DWV is the recycled-content option against PVC.
