1) Is the F975 terminal insulated, and do I need to sleeve it after crimping?
It's a non-insulated copper tubular ring terminal, so there is no factory sleeve over the barrel. On a 600 V circuit you finish the termination yourself with heat shrink or tape where the installation calls for covered terminations, or land it inside an enclosure where the lug is not exposed to contact.
2) Can I use this ring terminal on a 480 V motor feeder?
Yes. The F975 carries a 600 V rating, which covers 120/208, 277 and 480 V systems. It is UL recognized under file E9809.
3) Is the Sta-Kon F975 copper or aluminum, and can I put it on aluminum conductor?
The barrel is copper, so it is intended for copper conductor. Aluminum conductor needs a lug marked AL or AL9CU with the proper compound; a copper-only barrel on aluminum wire is a dissimilar-metal joint that will loosen and heat over time.
4) Is a ring terminal or a spade terminal better for a vibrating panel or mobile equipment?
Use the ring style, which is what the F975 is. A ring goes fully around the stud, so it cannot back off sideways if the nut loosens. A spade or fork can slide out from under a loosened nut, which is why it is used where terminations are changed often rather than on vibration-prone equipment.

Plain metallic copper finish, no colored insulation sleeve or band, with a tubular barrel for 4 AWG and a flat ring tongue for a 1/2 inch stud. If the lug you removed had a colored plastic body, it was an insulated terminal, not this one.
