1) What wire sizes does the Sta-Kon M973U ring terminal accept?
The M973U is sized for conductors from 4/0 AWG through 250 kcmil. It is a tubular barrel lug, so the stranded conductor seats fully into the barrel before crimping. If your feeder is 350 kcmil or 2/0, this is the wrong size terminal and you need a different barrel.

3) Can I put the M973U on aluminum conductors?
No. The barrel is copper and the terminal is specified for copper conductors in the 4/0 AWG to 250 kcmil range. For aluminum or dual-rated feeders use an AL9CU marked compression lug instead.
4) Why would I use a 90 degree lug instead of a straight one?
The 90 degree bend turns the conductor a quarter turn at the termination, which is what you want when cable enters a panel, switchboard gutter, or transformer compartment from the side and the stud faces another direction. It saves you bending a 4/0 or 250 kcmil conductor in tight gutter space. If the cable already approaches the stud in line, a straight tongue lug is the simpler choice.
5) Is the Sta-Kon M973U insulated, and do I need to cover it after crimping?
It is a non-insulated copper lug with a bare metallic barrel and tongue. Nothing on the terminal provides dielectric cover, so where the installation requires it you insulate after crimping with heat shrink or tape rated for the circuit. Rated to 600 V.
