1) What voltage does the Nortek Control 4-channel receiver run on?
It runs on 24 VAC or 24 VDC, so you can feed it from either an AC transformer or a DC supply on the gate or door operator. No separate power board is needed as long as your operator has a 24V accessory output.
2) Will this Nortek receiver work with my 315 MHz or 390 MHz transmitters?
No. This is a 310 MHz RF receiver, so it only pairs with 310 MHz transmitters. Radios on 315 or 390 MHz will not trigger it, no matter how the dip switches are set. Match the transmitter frequency first, then match the code.
3) How do I code the transmitters to this 4-channel receiver?
Coding is done with dip switches, not a learn button. There are 64 code combinations set by the dip switches, and the transmitter switches have to be set to the same pattern. That also means you can deliberately give separate tenants or buildings different codes so one remote won't open another opening.
4) Can one receiver handle up, down and stop on a commercial door operator?
Yes, that is one of the two ways this 4-channel unit is used. Three of the channels can drive UP, DOWN and STOP on a commercial operator, or you can use all four channels to run four separate devices such as a gate, a barrier, a strike and an overhead door.
5) Does the Nortek 4-channel receiver come with an antenna and a way to mount it?
Both are included. It ships with a wire lead antenna and a mounting bracket, so you only need to supply the 24V power run and the low voltage wiring to your operator's input terminals.
6) Is this a standalone access control keypad or just the radio side?
It is the receiver only, the radio end of an access control system. It takes the signal from a 310 MHz transmitter and closes a channel to whatever you wire it to. The transmitters, the operator and any power supply are separate items.
7) Where should I mount the receiver for the best range?
Use the supplied bracket to fix the unit where the wire lead antenna can hang free and clear of the metal operator housing, conduit and the door itself. Antenna wire routed against or inside a metal enclosure is the most common cause of short range on a 310 MHz receiver.
