Norton Rixson 5700M – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Norton Rixson 5700M motor assembly fit?
The 5700M motor assembly is a genuine Norton Rixson replacement component made for the 5700 Series door closer platform, and only that platform. It is not a universal motor, so it should not be ordered for other Norton or Rixson closer families. Model designation to order by is 5700M.
2) Can I replace just the motor on a 5700 Series closer instead of the whole unit?
Yes. The 5700M is sold as a standalone motor assembly so a failed or worn motor can be swapped out and the closer returned to its original operating condition without pulling and replacing the complete unit. That keeps the existing mounting, arm and door prep untouched.
3) Is the 5700M an aftermarket part or a factory Norton Rixson component?
It is a manufacturer-genuine Norton Rixson part, built to the original equipment specification for the 5700 Series rather than an aftermarket copy. That matters on a motorized closer, where a non-OEM motor can change how the unit performs.
4) Is the 5700M motor assembly suitable for a residential door closer?
No. The 5700M is a commercial-grade component for commercial door hardware, and it services Norton Rixson 5700 Series closers found in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential common areas and government buildings. A residential closer will not take it.
5) What exactly am I ordering when I order a 5700M?
A single motor assembly, classified as a door closer replacement part. It is the motor only, not a complete closer and not a rebuild kit, so any other worn components in the 5700 Series unit have to be ordered separately.
