Norton Rixson 5700C – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Norton Rixson 5700C chain fit any door closer, or only the 5700 Series?
Only the 5700 Series. The 5700C is a genuine OEM replacement chain made specifically for Norton Rixson 5700 Series door closers, and it is not offered as a universal chain for other closer families. If the closer body on your door is not a 5700, this is the wrong part.
2) Do I get a whole closer or just the chain with the 5700C?
Just the chain. The 5700C is a single replacement chain component for an existing 5700 Series closer, sold as a service part. The closer body, arm, and mounting hardware are separate items.
3) My 5700 closer is dragging and the chain is worn. Can I just swap the chain instead of replacing the closer?
Yes, that is exactly what the 5700C is for. It is a drop-in chain replacement that restores a 5700 Series closer to factory-specified operation when the chain is worn or damaged, so a maintenance tech can service the unit in place rather than pulling and replacing the whole closer.
4) Is the 5700C a genuine Norton Rixson part or an aftermarket chain?
Genuine OEM. The 5700C is an authentic Norton Rixson component built to factory specifications for the 5700 Series, which is what matters if your building standardizes on OEM parts for closer service work.
5) Is the 5700C chain rated for commercial door traffic or is it a light-duty part?
It is a commercial part. The 5700C is built for commercial door closer service in settings like offices, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential, and government buildings, not for light residential duty.
