Norton Rixson TX47 689 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Norton Rixson TX47 Torx screw pack fit?
The TX47 is a Torx screw pack made for Norton Rixson 7500 Series door closers. It is an OEM replacement fastener set for that closer line, so if the closer on the door is a 7500 Series, these are the screws that match the factory build. It is not a general-purpose screw assortment for other closer families.
2) Is the TX47 the whole closer or just fasteners?
Fasteners only. The TX47 is a replacement screw pack, not a closer body, arm, or cover. If you are replacing a failed closer, you order the 7500 Series closer itself; the TX47 covers the case where the mounting screws are stripped, corroded, or missing.
3) What driver do I need for the TX47 screws?
A Torx driver. The TX47 pack uses Torx-drive screws, which is what Norton Rixson specifies on this closer line partly because the drive resists cam-out under the torque a closer mounting takes. Have the Torx bits on the truck before you pull the old screws, since a Phillips or slotted bit will not engage them.
4) Can I use generic hardware store screws instead of the TX47 pack on a 7500 Series closer?
The TX47 is the factory-specification fastener set for the 7500 Series, sized and threaded to the closer's own prep. Substituting random fasteners risks a loose shoe or a stripped body tap on a closer that sees constant cycling. For a facility standardizing its parts crib across several 7500 Series openings, stocking the TX47 keeps every closer on the same screw.
5) Is the TX47 screw pack suitable for high traffic commercial openings?
Yes. It is a commercial-grade part, rated for commercial door hardware use rather than residential, which is the environment 7500 Series closers are typically hung in: offices, schools, healthcare, retail, and government buildings.
