Norton Rixson 6SB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What finish does the Norton Rixson 6SB touch-up spray paint match?
The 6SB aerosol matches Norton Rixson's 696 satin brass painted finish. It is the single finish this spray is offered in, so if your closer body, arm, or cover plate was supplied in 696 satin brass, this is the color match. It will not match a plated or polished brass (605/632) surface.
2) Can I use Norton Rixson 6SB spray to touch up scratches on a door closer cover?
That is what it is for. The 6SB is a Norton Rixson replacement accessory made to restore the brass finish on door closer components and related door hardware after scratches, handling damage, or field drilling. Aerosol format, so you can feather it into the surrounding surface rather than repainting the whole cover.
3) I manage a building with mismatched brass door closers. Will one can of 6SB blend a repaired part into the rest?
Only if the rest are the 696 satin brass painted finish from Norton Rixson. The 6SB is formulated against that factory color, so a part refinished with it sits alongside original Norton Rixson brass hardware without an obvious difference. Closers from another manufacturer, or ones in a plated brass finish, will not necessarily line up with it.
4) Is this brass spray paint suitable for commercial building maintenance, or is it a consumer product?
It is catalogued for commercial use. Facility maintenance teams in offices, schools, hospitals, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential, and government buildings use the 6SB to keep closer hardware looking uniform across openings after repairs.
5) Is the Norton Rixson 6SB a genuine manufacturer part or an aftermarket paint?
Genuine. The 6SB is supplied as an authentic Norton Rixson replacement accessory under the Norton parts program, which is why the color is matched to the factory finish rather than approximated from a paint chip.
