Nuts 1/2-20 Hx Nut SS (Jar 50)
Features
- Designed for use with stainless steel bolts and screws with a specified minimum tensile strength equal to or less than the specified proof stress of the mating nut. Both type of stainless are corrosion resistant with 316 stainless having greater such resistance as well as superior strength at raised temperatures.
- Six-sided internally threaded fastener whose thickness is 0.875 D is the nominal nut size and 1.5 D is their width across the flats, made from austenitic alloys.

Metallics JSN182 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Metallics JSN182 nut fit a 1/2-20 fine thread bolt?
Yes. The JSN182 is a 1/2-20 hex nut, so it mates with 1/2 inch bolts cut at 20 threads per inch (UNF fine thread). It will not thread onto a 1/2-13 coarse bolt, which is the more common commercial pitch, so check the bolt pitch before ordering.
2) Is the Metallics JSN182 nut stainless, and will it hold up outdoors?
It is 18-8 austenitic stainless, corrosion resistant for outdoor and damp electrical work. If you are dealing with chlorides, coastal air, or elevated temperatures, 316 stainless offers greater corrosion resistance and better strength when hot.
3) Does the Metallics JSN182 nut qualify for a Buy American or ARRA federal project?
No. The JSN182 is not Buy American compliant and is not ARRA compliant, with country of origin listed as multiple. For a federally funded job carrying domestic sourcing requirements, you will need a domestically produced nut instead.
4) What wrench or socket size does the Metallics JSN182 stainless hex nut take?
Across the flats the nut measures 0.736 to 0.750 inch, which is a 3/4 inch wrench or socket. Across the corners it runs 0.840 to 0.866 inch, so allow that clearance in a tight pocket or box.
5) How thick is the JSN182 nut, and how much bolt thread do I need past the nut?
Nut height runs 0.427 to 0.448 inch. Size your bolt length so at least that much thread engages, plus a thread or two protruding past the face for a proper grip.
6) Can I mix the JSN182 stainless nut with plated steel bolts?
Pair it with stainless bolts and screws whose specified minimum tensile strength is equal to or less than the proof stress of the nut. Mixing stainless nuts onto plated carbon steel bolts in a wet location sets up dissimilar metal corrosion, so keep the fastener assembly in the same material family.
7) What dimensional standard does the Metallics JSN182 hex nut follow?
It is made to ANSI/ASME B18.2.2, the dimensional standard for hex nuts, so it interchanges with any other B18.2.2 1/2-20 nut on the job. Hardness falls in the Rockwell B95 to C32 range.
8) How many nuts come in a jar of Metallics JSN182?
They ship in a jar of 50 pieces, with 50 each as the order minimum. That is the packaged unit for MRO stock or a panel build where you want the count on the shelf rather than loose hardware.
How fast can I get the Metallics JSN182 delivered?

U.S.
