NUVO Lighting 62-1673 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) How many fixtures come in the NUVO 62-1673 disk light contractor pack?
The NUVO 62-1673 ships as a 6 unit contractor pack of 10 inch LED disk lights, all in the brushed nickel finish with a frosted lens. That is the quantity for anyone re-lamping a corridor, a set of apartment closets, or a row of bathrooms in one order rather than buying singles.
    2) Can this NUVO LED disk light be installed in a shower or over a tub?
It carries a wet location rating and is cETLus safety listed, so it can go in a shower surround or a covered tub area. NUVO lists it as an indoor fixture, so keep it inside the building envelope rather than on an open porch or eave.
    3) Will the 62-1673 disk light cover an existing 4 inch or 6 inch recessed can hole?
The fixture body is 9.5 inches in diameter and only 1.25 inches deep, so it covers a standard 4 inch or 6 inch recessed housing opening with room to spare and sits nearly flush to the ceiling. It is a ceiling mount, close-to-ceiling style fixture, so you need a junction box or housing to land the connection.
    4) What color light does the NUVO 62-1673 put out, and can I mix it with my other fixtures?
It is fixed at 5000K daylight white with a CRI of 90. There is no CCT selector switch on this model, so if the rest of your building is running 2700K or 3000K it will read noticeably cooler and bluer. Standardize on one color temperature per space.
    5) How bright is a 10 inch LED disk light at 16 watts?
Each unit delivers 1120 lumens on 16 watts at 120V, with an integrated LED rated to 50,000 hours. That output suits a small bedroom, a bath, a laundry, or a hallway run; for a larger open room plan on more than one fixture.
    6) Is the NUVO 62-1673 dimmable, and do I need to change my dimmer?
The fixture is dimmable and runs on 120V line voltage. The LED is integrated, so you are dimming the driver, not a lamp, and it needs a dimmer rated for LED loads. An older incandescent-only dimmer left in the box is the usual cause of flicker or a dead bottom end.
    7) Do I have to buy bulbs separately for this disk light?
No separate lamps. The LED is integrated into the fixture and included, so there is nothing to stock and nothing to re-lamp over the 50,000 hour rated life. When it reaches end of life the whole fixture is replaced, which is the tradeoff MRO buyers weigh against a socketed fixture.
    8) What is the NUVO 62-1673 disk light made of and how much does one weigh?
Steel base with a frosted diffuser in a brushed nickel finish, and each fixture weighs 1.3 lbs. At that weight it mounts to a standard ceiling junction box without extra bracing.
    9) Is the NUVO 62-1673 RoHS compliant, and does it carry a Prop 65 warning?
It is RoHS compliant and safety listed cETLus. California Prop 65 lists lead as a chemical of concern for this fixture, which matters for submittal packages on public or institutional work in that state.
