NUVO Lighting 64-100 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the NUVO 64-100 RGB tape light kit be used outdoors or in a damp location like a bathroom or covered patio?
No. The 64-100 Dimension Color tape kit is rated for dry locations and indoor use only, so keep it out of bathrooms with shower moisture, exterior soffits, and covered patios. For those openings you need a wet- or damp-rated strip product instead.
2) Do I need an electrician or a hardwired driver to install the NUVO 64-100 tape light?
No electrical work is required. The 64-100 kit runs on 12V through a plug-in driver and mounts with 3M adhesive tape already applied to the back of the strip, so it goes up on a cabinet underside or baseboard with no J-box, no cutting in, and no hardwiring. That makes it a tenant-friendly install for a property manager, but it also means the cord has to reach a receptacle.
3) What exactly comes in the NUVO 64-100 kit, and do I have to buy anything else to make it work?
Everything needed to run the strip is in the box: a plug-in driver, a receiver, an IR remote, and one 5-meter (16 ft) reel. Nothing additional is required for a basic install. What is not included is mounting channel or diffuser, so if you want the LEDs hidden rather than visible dots, plan on extrusion separately.
4) Will the NUVO 64-100 tape light give me warm white or tunable white light?
It will not. The 64-100 is RGB only, with no CCT selection, so it produces colors and color-changing effects rather than a true tunable or warm white. For task lighting under kitchen cabinets or in a work area, specify a white tape light instead. This kit is aimed at accent use, kids rooms, and gaming setups.
5) Can I dim the NUVO Dimension Color tape light, and does it need a wall dimmer?
Dimming is handled by the included IR remote, not a wall dimmer. The remote powers the strip on and off, cycles colors and effects, and adjusts brightness. Do not put the plug-in driver on a TRIAC wall dimmer; control stays at the receiver and remote.
6) Is the NUVO 64-100 tape light safety listed, and does it have a Prop 65 issue?
The kit carries a cETLus safety listing and is RoHS compliant. It also carries a California Prop 65 notice for lead, which matters if you are procuring for a California facility and need the warning passed through on submittals.
7) Can the LEDs on this NUVO tape light be replaced when they burn out?
No. The LEDs are integrated into the strip, rated at 50,000 average hours, so there is no lamp to change. When the run fails you replace the reel. For MRO planning, treat it as a disposable assembly rather than a serviceable fixture.
