NUVO Lighting SF77-996 – Frequently Asked Questions

    1) Can the NUVO SF77-996 mason jar wall lantern be used outside in a rainy, exposed location?
Yes. The SF77-996 is an outdoor fixture with a Wet location rating, so it can go on an exposed wall where it takes direct rain, not just under a covered porch. It is cULus safety listed.
    2) What bulb do I need for the NUVO SF77-996 mason jar fixture, and is one included?
Bulbs are not included. It takes one medium (E26) base A19 lamp up to 60W on 120V. Dimming depends entirely on the lamp you install, so if you want it on a dimmer, choose a dimmable bulb.
    3) How far does the NUVO SF77-996 stick out from the wall, and how much space does it need?
Extension off the wall is 5.5 inches, overall height is 8.5 inches, and the glass diameter is 4 inches. That tight footprint works beside a door casing or between tightly spaced garage openings where a larger lantern would crowd the trim.
    4) Is the NUVO SF77-996 ADA compliant for a commercial corridor or entry?
No. It is not ADA compliant, and with a 5.5 inch projection off the wall it exceeds the 4 inch protrusion limit ADA allows for objects mounted between 27 and 80 inches above the floor. For ADA-governed walkways in a school, clinic, or multi-family common area, specify an ADA wall sconce instead.
    5) Is this mason jar light a wall mount only, or can it hang from a ceiling?
Wall mount only. The SF77-996 is a one-light wall lantern with a single shade and a single glass, mounted to the wall over a standard outlet box. For a hanging or ceiling application you need a pendant or flush-mount outdoor fixture instead.
    6) If I'm standardizing exterior fixtures across a property, how do I order and identify this one?
Order by NUVO part number SF77-996 (printed by NUVO as SF77/996). It comes in one configuration, polished brass with clear ribbed glass, so there is no finish or glass option to specify. Fixture weight is 1.74 lbs, light enough for a standard outlet box with no extra bracing.
    7) What is the body and glass made of on the NUVO mason jar lantern?
Steel body in a polished brass finish, with a single clear ribbed glass jar. It is RoHS compliant, and NUVO flags lead under California Prop 65 for this fixture, which matters if you are purchasing for a California job.
