No. The Oatey 33992 galvanized hanger strap is self fastening and interlocking, so the tab locks into a slot to form the loop around the pipe. No nuts or bolts are needed to close the strap. You still need fasteners to attach the strap to the joist or structure.
2) Is 26 gauge galvanized hanger strap heavy enough for my pipe run?
26 gauge is the light-duty end of metal strapping. The Oatey 33992 works well for copper and PEX water lines, small DWV runs, and general hanging where loads are modest and supports are spaced per code. For large-diameter cast iron, heavy no-hub stacks, or anything carrying real weight, step up to clevis hangers or heavier gauge strap.
3) Will galvanized hanger strap cause a problem on copper pipe?
Direct contact between galvanized steel and copper can set up galvanic corrosion in damp locations. Standard trade practice is to isolate the copper with felt, tape, or a plastic sleeve at the strap, or use copper-coated strapping in wet or exterior areas. The 33992 is galvanized steel, so plan for isolation where moisture is present.
