Metallics NS2418 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Metallics NS2418 plate strap meet Buy American requirements on a federal job?
Metallics lists the NS2418 as both ARRA compliant and Buy American compliant, which is what a government or institutional spec usually asks for. Country of origin is recorded as multiple, so if your contract requires a single named origin on the submittal, confirm the origin of the specific lot you receive.
2) How many straps come in a box of Metallics NS2418?
They ship 50 per box, and 50 each is the order minimum, so you buy full boxes rather than singles. Box weight is listed at 21 lbs.
3) Is the strap pre-punched for nails or do I have to drill it?
Each NS2418 strap comes with 8 holes already punched, so it fastens straight to the framing with nails or screws. No drilling needed on the strap itself.
4) Are the dimensions on these nail plates exact?
Metallics notes that dimensions on all its nail plates and straps are approximate. Treat the 1-1/2 x 24 inch size as nominal. Other sizes, gauges and pack quantities in the line are available by request if 18 gauge at 24 inches isn't the size you need.
