OATEY 33975 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will an Oatey 33975 pipe hook work with PEX and PVC, or is it only for copper pipe?
Copper plating on the Oatey 33975 is a finish, not a restriction. The hook is rated for use with copper, PVC, CPVC, galvanized, PEX and other piping systems, so it supports one-inch runs regardless of the pipe material.
2) Do I need screws or separate fasteners to install an Oatey 33975 pipe hook?
No separate hardware. The 33975 is self-nailing, so the pointed end drives straight into the wood rafter or joist with a hammer and you bend the hook closed around the pipe. Nothing else to order.
3) Can a pipe hook like this be used to hang pipe from overhead joists, or is it only for strapping along a wall?
Overhead suspension is exactly what it is for. The 33975 supports pipe from rafters or joists, with the 6 inch leg nailed into the wood member and the pipe carried in the hook below it. For running pipe flat along a surface, a two-hole strap or clamp is the better choice.
4) How heavy a gauge is the Oatey 33975 pipe hook?
10 gauge copper plated steel. That is a stout hook for a 1 inch line, and the plating gives it a dissimilar-metal barrier when it is carrying copper tube.
