1) Do I need to use a primer with Oatey 32162 Blue Lava PVC cement?
On non-pressure DWV joints, no primer is needed where local codes permit, so the Oatey 32162 Blue Lava cement can be a one-step solvent weld on drain, waste and vent work. Codes vary by jurisdiction, so the inspector in your area has the final say on whether primer is required on DWV.
2) What size PVC pipe can Oatey Blue Lava hot cement be used on?
Up to 6 inch diameter with an interference fit, and it works on all schedules and classes of PVC pipe and fittings in that range. Above 6 inch you are outside what this cement is stated for.
3) Can I use Oatey 32162 on CPVC or ABS pipe?
No. Blue Lava 32162 is a PVC solvent cement, listed with PVC as the product material, and it solvent welds PVC only. CPVC needs a CPVC-specific cement and ABS needs ABS cement; a transition between ABS and PVC needs a transition cement or a mechanical coupling.
