OATEY 43632 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How big is the grate opening on the Oatey 43632 bell trap?
The 43632 has a 9 x 9 inch top, so plan the deck or slab opening around that footprint. Oatey also builds a smaller 6 x 6 inch bell trap for 1-1/2 inch and 2 inch pipe, which is the one to use where a 9 inch square top is too much surface in a tight floor.
2) Does the strainer come off the Oatey 43632 for cleaning?
The strainer snaps onto the drain body, so it pops off by hand for cleaning out the bell chamber. That matters on a bell trap more than a standard drain, because debris collects in the reservoir under the bell and that is where these plug up. Good news for a property manager standardizing a building: no fasteners to strip and no tool needed on a routine clean-out.
3) How much does the Oatey 43632 bell trap weigh for shipping and handling on site?
One pound. It is a light ABS assembly, so a single person sets it and there is nothing to crane or brace during the pour.
