OATEY 74137 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Oatey 74137 cleanout fit 3 inch or 4 inch PVC drain pipe?
Both. The 74137 is a general purpose PVC cleanout made to serve either 3 inch or 4 inch PVC DWV pipe, so one part covers the two most common residential and light commercial drain sizes. That is useful on a truck stock list where you don't know the line size until the slab is opened.
2) What size and material is the cover on the Oatey 74137 cleanout?
It comes with a 6 inch brass cover and a round ring. The 6 inch brass top is what you see at finished floor level, and the round ring is the piece that sets in the pour or the finished surface around it.
3) I need a cleanout access point in a concrete floor over a PVC drain line - is the Oatey 74137 the right type?
Yes, that is the application this one is built for. It's a PVC body with a round ring and a brass cover, so the plastic body ties into the PVC drain line and the brass top gives you a serviceable access point flush with the floor. Rodding access comes off removing the 6 inch brass cover.
4) Will the Oatey 74137 work on cast iron or ABS drain line?
The 74137 is a PVC-bodied cleanout intended for PVC DWV pipe. For a cast iron or ABS line, look for a cleanout with a body matched to that material, or transition to PVC ahead of the cleanout with the appropriate coupling.
5) How heavy is the Oatey 74137 cleanout for shipping and material takeoff?
The 74137 cleanout assembly weighs 4 pounds, most of that in the brass cover and ring rather than the PVC body. Shipping volume on it is 0.147.
