The Oatey 30923 medium body cement works on all schedules and classes of ABS pipe and fittings up to 6 inch diameter, provided the joint is an interference fit. Above 6 inch you need a heavy body cement instead.
2) Can I use this clear ABS cement on PVC or CPVC pipe?
No. Oatey 30923 is formulated to solvent weld ABS only. For PVC drain lines or CPVC water lines you need a cement rated for that material, and ABS-to-PVC transitions require a transition cement.
3) Why choose milky clear ABS cement instead of the standard black ABS cement?
The milky clear formula welds ABS the same way but leaves no black smears on fixtures, finished walls, or exposed pipe, so it eliminates the clean-up problems that come with black ABS cements. On a rough-in buried in a wall the black is fine; where the joint will be visible, in a finished bath, under a sink, or on a tub shoe, the clear saves you the wipe-down.
4) What temperature can I glue ABS at with this cement in cold weather?
Recommended application temperature for the 30923 cement is 40 to 110 degrees F (4 to 43 degrees C). Below 40 F you are outside the recommended range and should use a cement formulated for low temperature work.
