Yes. The 43732 is a 4 inch all-plastic cleanout assembly that snaps into 4 in. ABS cleanout fittings, and it can also be solvent welded inside 4 in. ABS Schedule 40 pipe. That gives you two ways to set it depending on whether you are finishing an existing cleanout fitting or terminating a run of pipe.
2) Can this Oatey cleanout be buried underground or in a slab?
No. The 43732 is not intended for underground use. Keep it to accessible above-grade DWV locations, a wall or floor cleanout you can reach for rodding. For a buried cleanout you need an assembly rated for below-grade service.
3) Can I use the Oatey 43732 in a PVC drain line?
It is built for ABS. The body is high-impact ABS and the plug is intended for ABS drain line applications, so it solvent welds with ABS cement in ABS pipe. On a PVC system you want a PVC cleanout instead, since ABS and PVC take different cements and are not a matched solvent weld.
4) Does a snap-in cleanout plug seal against sewer gas?
It does. The 43732 uses a removable threaded plug that seals the opening and prevents sewer gas from escaping through the piping, while still unthreading by hand or with a wrench when the line needs to be snaked.
