OATEY 34421 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Oatey 34421 bell cover plate actually do?
It's a trim plate that hides a cleanout plug while still letting you get to it. The plug itself is a separate purchase, so the 34421 covers the opening and nothing more. White finish, bell-shaped profile, and each one comes individually bagged so the finish isn't scuffed before it reaches the wall.
2) Does the Oatey 34421 come with the cleanout plug?
No. The 34421 is the cover plate only. You order the cleanout plug separately and size it to your line, then the plate goes over it to finish the opening.
3) Will I still be able to open the cleanout after the Oatey 34421 plate is installed?
Yes. The plate is made to be removable so the cleanout plug stays accessible for rodding or snaking the line. That's the point of a bell cover rather than patching the opening closed, and it matters on multi-family and commercial buildings where maintenance has to get into that cleanout repeatedly.
4) I'm stocking cleanout trim for a building full of units. What's the Oatey part number and is it a white finish?
Oatey 34421, a 5 inch bell cover plate in white. One model, one finish, so there's no handing or option to specify. Each piece is bagged individually, which keeps the white finish clean when you're pulling from a case across many units.
