OATEY 42782 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Oatey 42782 cover plate come with mounting screws?
Screws are included. The 42782 ships with 1/4 in - 20 screws, so you have the fasteners to mount the plate without a separate trip to the hardware bin. It also arrives with a protective film over the stainless face, which you peel after the plate is set so the finish does not get scratched during install.
2) Is the Oatey 42782 a cover plate only, or does it include the cleanout body?
Plate only. The 42782 is the finished stainless face and its 1/4 in - 20 screws. Any cleanout ferrule, access housing, or rough-in body behind the wall has to be ordered separately, so check what is already in the opening before you buy just the cover.
3) Is the Oatey 42782 plate stainless steel or chrome plated?
Solid stainless steel, not a plated finish. That matters in wet or washdown areas and in commercial kitchens or mechanical rooms where a plated plate eventually blisters and rusts at the screw holes. Stainless also wipes clean, which is why it gets specified in healthcare and food service.
4) How much does the Oatey 42782 cover plate weigh for a bulk MRO order?
Each plate is listed at 0.75 lb with a volume of 0.005. For a property manager or facility buyer stocking a cart or standardizing cleanout covers across a building, that is light enough that carton counts are driven by cube rather than weight limits.
