OATEY 82260 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size grate and base does the Oatey 82260 floor drain have?
The Oatey 82260 is a 6 inch square chrome grate on a square cast barrel, with a 5 inch base size diameter. So you get a 6 inch visible square face at the finished floor, sitting on a 5 inch base below.
2) Is the Oatey 82260 grate chrome plated or just chrome colored?
Both the barrel and the grate are chrome. The barrel is cast with a chrome finish and the square grate is chrome as well, so the exposed face matches chrome trim on adjacent fixtures rather than showing a raw casting.
3) I need a square floor drain grate, not a round one - does Oatey 82260 work?
Yes, this one is square top to bottom: square barrel and square grate, 6 inch. A square grate lines up with tile joints and square floor openings, which is the usual reason to pick it over a round strainer. If your existing opening or tile cut is round, a round grate will look cleaner.
4) What is the Oatey part number for the 6 inch chrome square floor drain grate and barrel?
Order it as Oatey 82260. That single part number covers the 6 inch cast chrome square barrel together with the matching square chrome grate, so the barrel and grate ship as one item rather than being specified separately.
5) How heavy is the Oatey 82260 square barrel and grate assembly?
It weighs 4 pounds. That is a cast assembly, not a thin stamped strainer, so it holds up to foot traffic and cart wheels in a utility room or commercial washroom better than light stamped goods.
