Panduit Pan-Lug™ PCSB Series Double-Sided Multi-Tap Mechanical Connector, Aluminum

The Panduit Pan-Lug™ PCSB Series is a family of double-sided, multi-tap mechanical connectors engineered to tap multiple aluminum or copper code conductors from a single feed run. The series is available in port and conductor-range configurations spanning 2 ports (350 kcmil to #10 STR/SOL) up to 6 ports (600 kcmil to #6 AWG STR), giving electrical professionals flexibility to match the connector to the job. Every configuration in the PCSB Series shares the same aluminum connector body, clear PVC insulation, and hex-head screw terminations, and each is UL Listed and CSA Certified for use up to 600V with a 90°C temperature rating. This makes the PCSB Series a dependable choice for professional power distribution work where inspectable, code-compliant connections are required.

Key Features

  • Multi-Tap Design: Double-sided configuration allows multiple conductors to be tapped from a single run for efficient power distribution; the PCSB family spans 2, 4, and 6 port configurations to match conductor count needs.
  • Wide Conductor Range: Depending on the configuration selected, the series accommodates conductor ranges from 350 kcmil down to #10 STR/SOL, 250 kcmil to #6 STR, and up to 600 kcmil to #6 AWG STR.
  • Durable Construction: Aluminum connector body rated for use with both aluminum and copper code conductors.
  • Clear PVC Insulation: Clear insulation material allows visual verification of proper conductor seating and connection before energizing.
  • Hex Screw Terminals: Hex-type screws deliver secure, consistent torque for reliable mechanical connections across every port configuration.
  • Voltage & Temperature Rating: Rated for use up to 600V with a 90°C temperature rating under both UL and CSA standards.
  • Sub-Brand: Part of the Panduit Pan-Lug™ line of mechanical connectors.

Panduit PCSB250-4-6Y – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the Panduit PCSB multi-tap connector be used on aluminum conductors, or copper only?
Both. The Pan-Lug PCSB connector body is aluminum and it is rated for use with aluminum or copper code conductors, so you can land AL feeders and CU taps in the same block. That is what makes it useful on service and feeder taps where the run is aluminum and the branch taps are copper.
2) What wire ranges and port counts does the Panduit PCSB series cover?
Three configurations are offered: a 4-port block taking 250 kcmil down to #6 STR, a 2-port block taking 350 kcmil down to #10 STR/SOL, and a 6-port block taking 600 kcmil down to #6 AWG STR. Pick by the largest conductor you have to land and the number of taps you need off the run. Only the 2-port version accepts solid conductor.
3) Is this connector rated for 600V service in a commercial panelboard?
Yes. The PCSB Series is UL Listed and CSA Certified for use up to 600V with a 90 degree C temperature rating under both standards, which covers typical 480Y/277V and 208Y/120V distribution gear. The 90 C rating is the connector's limit, not permission to size conductors at the 90 C ampacity column.
4) I have a #10 solid conductor to tap. Which PCSB will accept it?
Only the 2-port version, PCSB350-2-4, lists solid conductor in its range at 350 kcmil to #10 STR/SOL. The 4-port and 6-port blocks are specified for stranded conductor, #6 STR and #6 AWG STR respectively, so do not plan on landing solid wire in those.
5) Does the PCSB connector come insulated, or do I need to tape or boot it?
It ships with clear PVC insulation over the body, so no separate cover or boot is needed. The clear material lets you see conductor seating and how far the wire is inserted into the port after termination, which is what an inspector usually wants to confirm.
6) What kind of driver do I need to terminate a Pan-Lug PCSB block?
Hex screws, so you are working with a hex key or a hex bit socket, not a slotted or Allen-head combination screwdriver. Bring a torque wrench setup if the job is inspected, since these are torque-controlled mechanical terminations.
7) Will a double-sided multi-tap connector work for me, or do I need separate single-sided taps?
A double-sided block lets you land conductors from both sides of the body, so one device handles a feed on one face and taps on the other without stacking multiple lugs on a bus. If all your taps come off one direction and space is tight along one axis, a single-sided block is the cleaner fit. For panelboard, switchgear, and general power distribution tapping where a single run feeds several branches, the PCSB double-sided arrangement is what that application calls for.
8) Is the Panduit PCSB connector made in the USA and ARRA compliant for a federally funded project?
Country of origin is the USA and the PCSB Series is flagged ARRA compliant, which is what a government or institutional buyer needs on Buy American funded work. It is also RoHS compliant and carries no Prop 65 warning.
9) Can I buy a single PCSB connector or do I have to take a full pack?
Minimum order is one piece, and the standard packaging unit of measure is also a piece, so a single connector for a one-off repair is fine. Larger quantities for a new construction rough-in order the same way.
