PDQ 12 Cast Pull, Surface Mount, 5-1/2" CTC

Commercial Door Pulls, Single and Back to Back Mount

PDQ door pulls mount on the pull side of a door and come in round straight, flat straight, cast and offset pull handle styles, with center-to-center spacing from 5-1/2" up to 12" depending on the model.

Single pulls and back to back models are offered, with thru bolt, surface concealed and back to back mounting types for 1-3/4" metal, composite or wood doors and 1/2" glass doors. Pulls are often specified with a PDQ push plate on the opposite face so both sides of the door get matching hardware without lock trim.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should a pull be used instead of a lockset?
Push plates and pulls suit doors that do not need locking, such as interior doors, restrooms, storage rooms or one-way traffic doors where only an open and close function is required. PDQ pulls mount on the pull side and are often specified as a matched set with a push plate on the push side.

Does PDQ offer ADA pulls?
Yes. PDQ offers ADA-oriented options, including the H3 pull with 2-1/2" hand clearance for accessible operation. Recommended mounting follows ADA/ANSI A117.1 guidance, with pulls at 42" above finished floor and a minimum 4" clearance between the pull and the door stile.

PDQ 12626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the PDQ 12 cast pull work on a 1-3/4 inch wood or metal door?
Yes. PDQ's pull mounting types cover 1-3/4 inch metal, composite or wood doors, and separately 1/2 inch glass doors. For the 12 cast pull, thru bolt mounting is used on metal, composite or wood, while surface concealed mounting is available for metal doors (standard or rivnut) and wood doors (knife thread insert). Mounting is a selection made at the time of order.
2) What is the center-to-center spacing on the PDQ 12 pull, and will it cover my old pull's holes?
The 12 is a 5-1/2 inch center-to-center cast pull, the shortest spacing in the PDQ pull range (other models run up to 12 inch CTC). If the pull you are replacing is drilled at 5-1/2 inch centers, the 12 lands on the existing holes with thru bolt mounting. Anything wider and you want a longer CTC model rather than this one.
3) Does the PDQ 12 pull meet ADA hand clearance requirements?
The 12 is PDQ's cast pull at 5-1/2 inch CTC. The ADA-oriented option in the PDQ pull line is the H3 pull, which provides 2-1/2 inch hand clearance. If accessible hand clearance is called out on your drawing, specify the H3 rather than the cast 12. PDQ's recommended mounting follows ADA/ANSI A117.1 guidance: pull at 42 inches above finished floor with a minimum 4 inch clearance between the pull and the door stile.
4) Should I use a door pull or a lockset on a restroom or storage room door?
A pull is the right call when the door only needs to open and close and never needs to lock, which covers interior doors, restrooms, storage rooms and one-way traffic doors. The 12 mounts on the pull side; most specs pair it with a PDQ push plate on the push face so both sides get matching hardware with no lock trim at all. If the opening needs any latching or keying, you need a lockset instead.
5) What finishes does the PDQ 12 cast pull come in, and how do I order the right part number?
Three finishes: 605 Bright Brass, 613E Dark Oxidized Satin Bronze, and 626 Satin Chrome. The finish code appends to the model, so bright brass is part number 12605, dark oxidized satin bronze is 12613E, and satin chrome is 12626. Mounting type and heavy duty fasteners are selected alongside the finish.
6) Can I get a back-to-back pull arrangement instead of a single pull?
PDQ offers both single mount and back to back mount pull models, with back to back mounting as one of the mounting types. The 12 itself is specified as a surface mount pull; if you need a grab on both faces of the door, select a back to back model from the PDQ pull range rather than two singles thru bolted against each other.
7) Is the PDQ 12 pull rated for commercial traffic, or is it a residential part?
Commercial. The 12 cast pull is a commercial door hardware item, which is why it is offered with thru bolt and surface concealed mounting and with heavy duty 5/16 inch fasteners on select 1 inch diameter pulls in the line. For a high-traffic opening, thru bolt mounting puts the load through the door rather than into threaded inserts.
8) How does the cast 12 pull differ from the round straight PDQ pulls?
Grip shape and size. PDQ's round straight pulls come in 5/8, 3/4 and 1 inch diameters, and there are also 1 inch flat straight, cast, and 1 inch round offset handle styles. The 12 is the cast style at 5-1/2 inch CTC, a shorter, heavier-profile grip rather than a long tubular bar. Pick round straight if you want a slim tube, offset if you need the handle standing further off the face of the door.
