PDQ 4200 Series Wide Stile Exit Device Trim
PDQ 4-prefix exit device trim is the outside trim for PDQ 4200 Series exit devices, used with the 4200R rim and 4200V surface vertical rod devices. It controls entry from the pull side of the door while the exit device handles egress from the inside.
The family covers wide escutcheon (4EW) and narrow escutcheon (4EN) lever trim, 4S rose lever trim, 4K sectional knob trim, 4P plate and pull trim, and 4GW grip pull trim. Functions range from exit only and dummy trim to night latch, classroom, storeroom and passage, so each 4200 opening can be matched to how it needs to work.

Which exit devices does 4200 Series trim fit?
Every 4-prefix PDQ trim fits the 4200R rim and 4200V surface vertical rod exit devices. It is not designed for the 6300 or 6400 Series, which use 6-prefix trim.
Is 4K knob trim ADA compliant?
No. Knob trim requires grasping and turning, which ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1 do not allow on an accessible route. PDQ recommends lever trim such as the 4EW or 4EN where accessibility compliance is required.
What is the difference between the 4EN and 4EW?
The 4EN narrow escutcheon gives a slimmer profile for narrow stile doors, while the 4EW is built for wide stile 4200 doors. Both are lever operated and pair with the same 4200 Series exit devices.

1) Do I have to specify handing on the PDQ 4GW03 grip pull?
Yes, and this is the one trim in the 4200 family where it matters. The grip pull (GW) is a handed part and must be ordered LHR or RHR. The other 4200 trims (lever, knob, plate pull) are typed with no handing. Get the hand wrong on a grip pull and the trim mounts upside down relative to the door swing.
2) What does function 03 night latch mean on an exit device trim?
Night latch means the outside grip pull is always rigid and the key alone retracts the latch for entry. There is no thumbpiece or lever action, so the only way in from the pull side is with a key. Egress from the inside is unaffected, the 4200 device push bar always releases. The 4GW03 carries ANSI/BHMA function 03.
3) Will the PDQ 4GW03 trim work on a 2 inch thick door?
Yes. PDQ 4200 Series trim covers doors from 1-3/4 to 2 inches thick, so a 2 inch door is within the standard range with no special thickness code. Thinner than 1-3/4 inches is outside the range.
4) Does the PDQ 4GW03 come with a cylinder, and what cylinder options are there?
Four cylinder choices: conventional cylinder, less cylinder, SFIC prep less core, and Schlage LFIC prep less core. The two interchangeable core versions (SFL and LFL) do not include a core, those are bought separately. 5) Can I key the PDQ 4GW03 night latch trim to the Schlage C master key system already in my building?
Yes. Keyway choices include Schlage C, Schlage C-K and Schlage E, along with Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1, Corbin 60, Corbin L4, Russwin D1, Sargent LA, Sargent RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset, and the restricted PDQ TA. On keying you can order master keyed, master keyed to existing bittings, keyed alike in several group sizes, keyed different, 0-bitted, or construction master keyed. For an existing system, specify the keyway plus master keyed to existing bittings and supply the bitting list.
6) Should I use a grip pull or lever trim with my PDQ 4200 exit device?
