PDQ 6G03 Grip Pull Trim, Night Latch

Outside Trim for PDQ 6300 and 6400 Series Exit Devices

Exit device trim is the lever, pull, thumb latch or cylinder on the outside of a door with an exit device. It sets what someone outside can do, such as open the door freely, unlock it with a key, or open it only when the bar is locked down. People inside always leave by pushing the bar.

PDQ's 6-prefix trim is built for the 6300 Series (wide stile) and 6400 Series (narrow stile) exit devices. The line covers narrow escutcheon (6N), wide escutcheon (6W), rose lever (6S), thumb latch (6T), grip pull (6G, 6GW), pull plate (6P) and cylinder only (6C) trim, M-suffix versions for the 6300M mortise device, and the electrified 6W99 for access control.

Key Features

  • Built for PDQ 6300 and 6400 Series exit devices; the 6N, 6G and 6C also fit the narrow stile 6400 Series, and the 6T fits the 6400R and 6400V
  • Non-handed, with a simple door prep: 2-hole bolt pattern on 7" centers or 4-hole pattern on 7" x 1-3/8" centers
  • Functions include exit only, dummy, night latch, classroom, storeroom and passage, plus electrified storeroom on the 6W99 and 6WM99
  • Lever trims come in Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Orlando, Chicago and Los Angeles styles (6S rose trim: Philadelphia, Boston and Miami)
  • The 6W wide escutcheon covers existing holes when retrofitting a door
  • 6W99 electrified trim locks and unlocks from an access control system on 12 to 24 VDC or VAC, ships fail secure and changes to fail safe in the field
  • Thick door options for 2-1/2" to 2-3/4" doors or doors up to 3" (not on 6300M trim), and antimicrobial coating on the 6N, 6W, 6T, 6G and 6P

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need outside trim on a panic bar?
Outside trim is only needed when people must open the door from outside. An exit-only door can go without trim or use a blank or exit only function such as the 6N or 6P in function 01. If staff need key entry with no handle, the 6C cylinder only trim adds a key on the night latch function.

Which 6-prefix trim fits the 6300 and 6400 Series?
The 6300 Series takes the 6N, 6W, 6S, 6T, 6G, 6P and 6C, plus the electrified 6W99. The narrow stile 6400 Series takes the 6N, 6T, 6G and 6C, but the 6T does not fit the 6400C. M-suffix trims (6NM, 6WM, 6GM, 6GWM, 6CM) are for the 6300M mortise device.

What is the difference between the 6N and 6W trim?
The 6N is a narrow escutcheon sized for slim door stiles and fits both 6300 and 6400 devices. The 6W uses a wider escutcheon plate for wide stile 6300 devices and can cover existing holes on a retrofit.

PDQ 6G03630 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the night latch function on the PDQ 6G03 grip pull trim actually do?
Night latch means the grip pull is always pulled against a locked device until a key is turned. Outside, you insert the key in the cylinder to retract the latch and pull the door open; with no key, the pull does nothing. Inside, people always leave by pushing the bar. It is the usual pick for a back-of-house or service door where staff carry a key and nobody outside should get in without one.
2) Will the PDQ 6G03 grip pull work on a narrow stile aluminum storefront door?
Yes. The 6G is one of the trims PDQ lists for the narrow stile 6400 Series as well as the wide stile 6300 Series, along with the 6N and 6C. That makes it workable on aluminum storefront openings running a 6400 device. If you are on a 6300M mortise device instead, you need the M-suffix version (6GM or 6GWM), not the plain 6G.
3) What door prep does the PDQ 6G trim need?
The 6-prefix trim mounts with either a 2-hole bolt pattern on 7 inch centers or a 4-hole pattern on 7 inch by 1-3/8 inch centers. That is the same prep across the family, so swapping between trim styles within the line does not mean new holes.
4) Does the PDQ 6G03 come with a cylinder, and can I key it to my building?
The cylinder is a choice you make when ordering, not a fixed part of the trim. You can take a conventional cylinder, order it less cylinder, or specify SFIC prep (6-pin, 7-pin, less core, construction core or plastic construction core) or Schlage LFIC prep with or without a core. Keyway choices run from Schlage C, E and C-K through Corbin, Russwin, Sargent, Arrow, Accentra (Yale), Falcon, Kwikset, the full BEST SFIC range and PDQ's own restricted keyways. Keying is KD keyed different, KA keyed alike, or KO zero bitted, so the trim can be brought into an existing master system.
5) Do I have to order the 6G03 trim left hand or right hand?
No handing to specify. The 6G03 grip pull trim is non-handed, so one part covers either swing and you cannot order the wrong hand.
6) What is the difference between the 6G grip pull and the 6N or 6W escutcheon trim?
The grip pull gives you a substantial handle to haul the door open, which suits heavy or high-traffic doors and gloved hands. The 6N is a narrow escutcheon for slim stiles and fits both 6300 and 6400 devices; the 6W is a wider plate for wide stile 6300 devices and covers existing holes on a retrofit. If your old trim left scars in the door face, the 6W is the one that hides them, not the grip pull.
7) What finishes does the PDQ 6G03 grip pull trim come in?
Three: 613E dark oxidized satin bronze (6G03613E), 622 flat black (6G03622), and 630 satin stainless steel (6G03630). If you want the antimicrobial coating on the tactile surfaces or the weatherized finish option for an exterior opening, those are restricted to 626 and 630, so 630 satin stainless is the finish to pick for either.
8) My exit door does not need to be opened from the outside at all. Do I still need trim like the 6G03?
No. Outside trim is only needed where someone has to get in from outside. An exit-only door can run with no trim, or with a blank/exit-only trim such as the 6N or 6P in function 01. If staff need key access but no handle on the outside, the 6C cylinder-only trim gives you the night latch function without a pull. The 6G03 is for when you want both a key and a grip to pull on.
9) Is the 6G03 grip pull suitable for a healthcare or school corridor door?
It is commercial-grade door hardware, and the antimicrobial coating option on the tactile surfaces makes it a reasonable call for healthcare and education touch points when ordered in 626 or 630. Bear in mind the function: night latch keeps the door locked from the corridor with key entry only. For a classroom door where staff need to lock and unlock from outside with a lever, a classroom or storeroom function lever trim in the same 6-prefix line is the better fit.
