PDQ 4200 Series Wide Stile Exit Device Trim
PDQ 4-prefix exit device trim is the outside trim for PDQ 4200 Series exit devices, used with the 4200R rim and 4200V surface vertical rod devices. It controls entry from the pull side of the door while the exit device handles egress from the inside.
The family covers wide escutcheon (4EW) and narrow escutcheon (4EN) lever trim, 4S rose lever trim, 4K sectional knob trim, 4P plate and pull trim, and 4GW grip pull trim. Functions range from exit only and dummy trim to night latch, classroom, storeroom and passage, so each 4200 opening can be matched to how it needs to work.

Which exit devices does 4200 Series trim fit?
Every 4-prefix PDQ trim fits the 4200R rim and 4200V surface vertical rod exit devices. It is not designed for the 6300 or 6400 Series, which use 6-prefix trim.
Is 4K knob trim ADA compliant?
No. Knob trim requires grasping and turning, which ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1 do not allow on an accessible route. PDQ recommends lever trim such as the 4EW or 4EN where accessibility compliance is required.
What is the difference between the 4EN and 4EW?
The 4EN narrow escutcheon gives a slimmer profile for narrow stile doors, while the 4EW is built for wide stile 4200 doors. Both are lever operated and pair with the same 4200 Series exit devices.

1) Which PDQ exit devices does the 4P03 pull trim fit?
The 4P03 night latch pull trim is outside trim for the PDQ 4200 Series wide stile devices: 4200R and 4200RF rim devices, and 4200V and 4200VF surface vertical rod devices. It will not work on the PDQ 6300 or 6400 Series, which take 6-prefix trim instead.
2) Will the PDQ 4P03 trim work on a 2 inch thick door?
Yes. The 4-prefix trim family, 4P03 included, is built for doors 1-3/4 to 2 inches thick. Anything thinner than 1-3/4 inches is outside that range.
3) Does the 4P03 night latch trim come with a cylinder?
Depends on the version you order. Four cylinder choices exist: Conventional Cylinder (supplied), Less Cylinder, SFIC Prep less core, and Schlage LFIC Prep less core. Both interchangeable core versions ship without a core, so cores are bought separately. Example part numbers in aluminum are 4P03689D for conventional, 4P03689L less cylinder, 4P03689SFL for SFIC prep and 4P03689LFL for Schlage LFIC prep.
4) Can I key PDQ 4P03 trim into my existing building master key system?
Yes, if your system runs one of the 15 keyways offered: Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1, Corbin 60, Corbin L4, Russwin D1, Schlage E, Schlage C, Schlage C-K, Sargent LA, Sargent RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R, Accentra (Yale) GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset, or PDQ TA restricted. Keying choices include master keyed, master keyed to existing bittings, keyed alike in several group sizes, keyed different, 0-bitted, and construction master keyed.
5) Is the 4P03 pull trim ADA compliant for an accessible route?
No. PDQ states ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1 compliance for the lever trims in the family, the 4EW, 4EN and 4S. A fixed pull with key-only entry is not a lever, so for an opening on an accessible route specify 4EW or 4EN lever trim instead.
6) Should I use night latch trim or a classroom or storeroom function on an exit device?
Night latch, as on the 4P03, gives key-only entry through a fixed pull, which is what you want on an exterior service door where nobody needs free outside access. The 4-prefix family also covers classroom, storeroom and passage functions, plus exit only and dummy trim. Choose lever trim with a classroom or storeroom function when staff or students need to enter by lever, and exit only or dummy when outside entry should never be possible.
7) Do I have to order the 4P03 for a left or right hand door?
No handing to specify. The 4P03 pull trim is non-handed, so one part covers either swing. Within the 4-prefix family only the 4GW grip pull trim requires LHR or RHR to be called out.
8) My door already has a 161 prep. Will the 4P03 cover the existing holes?
For covering old prep and holes on a retrofit, PDQ points to the 4EW wide escutcheon trim. The 4S rose lever trim is the one that fits standard 161 prepped doors, mounted with through bolts and available with Philadelphia, Boston or Miami levers. If you want a night latch pull specifically, confirm the door prep matches the 4P plate pull pattern before ordering.
