PDQ 6P03 Pull Plate Trim, Night Latch

Outside Trim for PDQ 6300 and 6400 Series Exit Devices

Exit device trim is the lever, pull, thumb latch or cylinder on the outside of a door with an exit device. It sets what someone outside can do, such as open the door freely, unlock it with a key, or open it only when the bar is locked down. People inside always leave by pushing the bar.

PDQ's 6-prefix trim is built for the 6300 Series (wide stile) and 6400 Series (narrow stile) exit devices. The line covers narrow escutcheon (6N), wide escutcheon (6W), rose lever (6S), thumb latch (6T), grip pull (6G, 6GW), pull plate (6P) and cylinder only (6C) trim, M-suffix versions for the 6300M mortise device, and the electrified 6W99 for access control.

Key Features

  • Built for PDQ 6300 and 6400 Series exit devices; the 6N, 6G and 6C also fit the narrow stile 6400 Series, and the 6T fits the 6400R and 6400V
  • Non-handed, with a simple door prep: 2-hole bolt pattern on 7" centers or 4-hole pattern on 7" x 1-3/8" centers
  • Functions include exit only, dummy, night latch, classroom, storeroom and passage, plus electrified storeroom on the 6W99 and 6WM99
  • Lever trims come in Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Orlando, Chicago and Los Angeles styles (6S rose trim: Philadelphia, Boston and Miami)
  • The 6W wide escutcheon covers existing holes when retrofitting a door
  • 6W99 electrified trim locks and unlocks from an access control system on 12 to 24 VDC or VAC, ships fail secure and changes to fail safe in the field
  • Thick door options for 2-1/2" to 2-3/4" doors or doors up to 3" (not on 6300M trim), and antimicrobial coating on the 6N, 6W, 6T, 6G and 6P

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need outside trim on a panic bar?
Outside trim is only needed when people must open the door from outside. An exit-only door can go without trim or use a blank or exit only function such as the 6N or 6P in function 01. If staff need key entry with no handle, the 6C cylinder only trim adds a key on the night latch function.

Which 6-prefix trim fits the 6300 and 6400 Series?
The 6300 Series takes the 6N, 6W, 6S, 6T, 6G, 6P and 6C, plus the electrified 6W99. The narrow stile 6400 Series takes the 6N, 6T, 6G and 6C, but the 6T does not fit the 6400C. M-suffix trims (6NM, 6WM, 6GM, 6GWM, 6CM) are for the 6300M mortise device.

What is the difference between the 6N and 6W trim?
The 6N is a narrow escutcheon sized for slim door stiles and fits both 6300 and 6400 devices. The 6W uses a wider escutcheon plate for wide stile 6300 devices and can cover existing holes on a retrofit.

PDQ 6P03630 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the night latch function on the PDQ 6P03 pull plate trim actually do?
Night latch means there is no outside handle to turn, just a pull plate and a key cylinder. Turning the key retracts the latch so you can pull the door open; let go of the key and the door is locked from outside again. People inside always exit by pushing the bar. It is the usual choice for a service or back-of-house door where staff need key entry but you do not want a lever on the outside.
2) Which PDQ exit devices does the 6P03 trim fit?
The 6P pull plate trim is built for the PDQ 6300 Series wide stile exit devices. On the narrow stile 6400 Series, PDQ lists the 6N, 6T, 6G and 6C as the trims that fit, so for an aluminum storefront door with a 6400 device you want one of those instead of the 6P. M-suffix trims (6NM, 6WM, 6GM, 6GWM, 6CM) are the ones for the 6300M mortise device.
3) Do I need to specify handing when ordering PDQ 6P03 trim?
No. The 6P03 is non-handed, so one part covers left and right hand doors. Door prep is a 2-hole bolt pattern on 7 inch centers, or a 4-hole pattern on 7 x 1-3/8 inch centers.
4) What cylinder do I order with the PDQ 6P03 night latch trim?
The default is a conventional cylinder, but you can order it less cylinder if you are supplying your own, or with small format interchangeable core prep (SF6 with a 6-pin core, SF7 with a 7-pin core, SFL less core, SFC or SFP with a construction core). Schlage large format prep is also available as LF6 with a Schlage core, LFL less core, or LFC with a construction core.
5) Can PDQ 6P03 trim be keyed into our existing master key system?
It can be ordered in a long list of keyways, so in most cases yes. Conventional and Schlage LFIC default to Schlage C, and the list also covers Schlage E and C-K, Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1, 60 and L4, Russwin D1 and 981, Sargent LA and RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset, PDQ Restricted TA, and BEST SFIC keyways A through TE plus PDQ exclusive SFIC sections. Keying is specified as keyed different, keyed alike, or zero bitted for a core to be added later.
6) Will the PDQ 6P pull plate cover the old holes left by the trim I am taking off?
Do not count on it. The trim PDQ identifies for covering existing door prep on a retrofit is the 6W wide escutcheon. The 6P mounts to the standard 2-hole 7 inch center or 4-hole 7 x 1-3/8 inch center pattern, so unless your old trim used that prep you may have holes showing. On a retrofit where the previous trim had a different footprint, the 6W is the safer pick.
7) Is there an antimicrobial or weatherized version of the PDQ 6P trim for healthcare or exterior doors?
Both are order options. The AM antimicrobial coating goes on tactile surfaces and is offered on the 6N, 6W, 6T, 6G and 6P, in 626 and 630 finishes only. A weatherized finish option is also available in 626 and 630 (not on the 6C cylinder-only trim). For a hospital corridor door, antimicrobial on the pull plate is the one to add.
8) Should I use a pull plate night latch or a lever trim on my exit device door?
Pull plate night latch trim like the 6P03 gives key-only entry with nothing to grab but a flat pull, which suits service, stock and exterior back doors. If people need to enter routinely without a key in hand, a lever trim is the better call: PDQ's 6N narrow escutcheon, 6W wide escutcheon or 6S rose lever come in classroom, storeroom and passage functions, with lever styles Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Orlando, Chicago and Los Angeles (6S is limited to Philadelphia, Boston and Miami). For a door on access control, the electrified 6W99 is the one to spec.
9) My exit device door is exit only right now. Do I need outside trim at all?
Only if someone has to get in from outside. An exit-only opening can run with no trim, or with a blank plate: the 6N or 6P in function 01 is exit only with no outside operation. If staff need key access but you do not want a handle, step up to the night latch, or use the 6C cylinder-only trim which adds a key on the night latch function with no plate.
10) What finishes does the PDQ 6P03 pull plate trim come in?
Three: 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 622 flat black, and 630 satin stainless steel. If you are matching a run of doors, satin stainless 630 is the one that pairs with most commercial exit device hardware. Each finish has its own part number, for example 6P03613E.
