PDQ CL126 Grade 2 Entry, Single Cylinder, Passage Lever Interconnected Lock

Grade 2 Standard Duty Interconnected Lock

The PDQ CL126 is the Entry function (ANSI/BHMA F95) of the PDQ CL Series Grade 2 Standard Duty Interconnected Lock.

The PDQ CL Series is an ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 interconnected lock that combines a latch and a deadbolt in one unit. Turning the inside lever retracts both in a single motion, which gives the door two points of locking while still allowing one-motion egress.

The CL shares its levers and finishes with the PDQ SD cylindrical lock, so a building can mix interconnected and standard cylindrical locks with a consistent look. It is UL/cUL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors and backed by a two year limited warranty.

Key Features

  • Latch and deadbolt retract together from the inside lever
  • Fits 1-3/8" and 1-3/4" doors; ANSI/BHMA A156.115 prep with field selectable 4" or 5-1/2" hole centers
  • 1" throw brass deadbolt with a 1/4" case-hardened steel roll pin and a 1/2" throw latchbolt

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an interconnected lock?
An interconnected lock combines a latch and deadbolt so that turning the inside lever retracts both in a single motion. That meets codes requiring one-motion egress while still giving the door two points of locking, and it avoids installing and aligning two separate locks on one door.

What door prep does the CL Series require?
CL uses ANSI/BHMA A156.115 door prep and is field selectable for 4" or 5-1/2" hole centers, so the same lock can retrofit existing door preps.

Can the CL match PDQ cylindrical locks?
Yes. The CL Series shares lever styles and finishes with the PDQ SD cylindrical lock, so the look stays consistent in a building that mixes interconnected and standard cylindrical locks.

PDQ CL126BSN626D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the PDQ CL126 interconnected lock fit my existing door prep with 5-1/2 inch hole centers?
Yes. The CL126 uses ANSI/BHMA A156.115 door prep and is field selectable for either 4 inch or 5-1/2 inch hole centers, so one lock covers both common interconnected preps without re-boring the door. It fits 1-3/8 inch and 1-3/4 inch doors.
2) Does an interconnected lock like the PDQ CL126 satisfy one-motion egress on an apartment entry door?
That is the whole point of it. Turning the inside lever retracts both the latchbolt and the deadbolt in a single motion, so the occupant gets out with one action while the door still has two points of locking. It also saves installing and aligning a separate deadbolt above a cylindrical lock. The CL126 is the Entry function, ANSI/BHMA F95.
3) Can the PDQ CL126 go on a 3-hour fire rated apartment entry door?
Yes, within limits. The CL Series is UL/cUL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0". Larger leaves or pairs are outside that listing. It also complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1, which matters for the lever operation on accessible units.
4) Do I have to specify handing on the PDQ CL126?
Only if you pick the Memphis lever. The CL126 is non-handed with Boston, Miami, Orlando and Philadelphia levers; the Memphis lever is handed, so you order LH or RH. For everything else, select Non-Handed.
5) What backset does the CL126 come with, and can I use it on a 2-3/8 inch bored door?
Both backsets are covered. The deadbolt is field adjustable between 2-3/8 inch and 2-3/4 inch, with 2-3/4 inch as the default. The latchbolt backset is a separate order choice: 2-3/4 inch is the default, 2-3/8 inch is available, each in standard, radius corner, or alternate faceplate versions (234, 234F, 234R, 238, 238F, 238R). So a door bored at 2-3/8 inch works, you just have to call the latch out on the order.
6) Can I key the PDQ CL126 into my building's existing Schlage or Best system?
Yes, in two ways. Keyed versions take a 6-pin conventional cylinder keyed to 5 pins, with the Schlage C (SCC) keyway standard and a long list of alternates including Schlage E, Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1/60/L4, Russwin D1, Sargent LA and RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, and Kwikset in 5-pin only. If you run small format interchangeable core, order SFIC prep with a 6- or 7-pin Best compatible core, less core, or with a brass or plastic construction core. Keying is specified as KD, OB, KA2, KA4, KA, MK, master keyed to existing bittings, or CMK. Two keys ship per lock.
7) Is the PDQ CL126 heavy duty enough for a multi-family entry door?
It is an ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 standard duty lock, which is the normal specification for multi-family housing, hospitality and light commercial entry doors. For high-traffic institutional openings a Grade 1 mortise or cylindrical lock is the usual call instead. Grade 2 means tested to the second of three ANSI/BHMA performance tiers.
8) Will the CL126 levers match the cylindrical locks on the rest of my doors?
If those cylindrical locks are PDQ SD Series, yes. The CL shares lever styles and finishes with the PDQ SD cylindrical lock, so a building can run interconnected locks on entry doors and standard cylindrical locks on interior doors with the same lever and finish. Finishes are 605 Bright Brass, 613E Dark Oxidized Satin Bronze, 622 Flat Black and 626 Satin Chrome.
9) Can I order the PDQ CL126 without a cylinder so my locksmith can supply one?
Yes. Less Cylinder is one of the cylinder choices, as is SFIC Prep, Less Core if you are supplying your own small format cores. For a jobsite running temporary keys, SFIC Prep with Construction Core or with a Plastic Construction Core covers the build phase, and construction master keying (CMK) is available on the conventional cylinder side.
10) Is the PDQ CL126 TAA compliant for a government job?
Yes, the CL Series is stated TAA compliant, with country of origin KR. That is the detail a public-sector or federally funded procurement officer needs alongside the Grade 2 and UL fire listing.
11) Are dust boxes included with the PDQ CL126 or do I order them separately?
Dust boxes for both the latchbolt and the deadbolt are included. There is also a DB option on the order form if your job needs it called out explicitly; otherwise select None.
