PDQ SD126 Grade 2 Passage Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 2 Standard Duty Commercial Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ SD126 is the Passage function (ANSI/BHMA F75) of the PDQ SD Series Grade 2 Standard Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ SD Series is a Grade 2 cylindrical lock certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2, value engineered for commercial doors. Its locking mechanism is heavy gauge cold rolled steel, dichromated for corrosion resistance, and it installs with removable thru-bolts on standard 160 and 161 door preps.

The SD offers the widest backset range in PDQ's Grade 2 lineup and five solid diecast lever styles: Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Memphis and Orlando. It is non-handed except with the Memphis lever, fits doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick, and carries a five year limited warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the SD different from PDQ's other Grade 2 locks?
The SD offers the widest backset range in PDQ's Grade 2 lineup (2-3/8", 2-3/4", 3-3/4" and 5") and five lever styles, more than the GP or SF Grade 2 lines.

Can the SD accept a high security cylinder?
Yes. High security cylinders are available for the SD in addition to the standard 6-pin SCC cylinder, for added pick and drill resistance on a Grade 2 lock.

Does the SD work with an electric strike?
Yes. Its standard ASA strike prep works with electric strikes, which is useful when a door needs remote release without electrifying the lock itself.

PDQ SD126BSN626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the PDQ SD126 passage lever lock have a key or any locking function?
No. The SD126 is the passage function (ANSI/BHMA F75) of the PDQ SD Series, so the lever always retracts the latch from both sides and there is no cylinder and no locking. Use it on corridor, closet and stairwell doors that need latching only. If you need the opening to lock, pick a keyed function in the SD Series instead.
2) Will the PDQ SD126 drop into an existing 161 door prep?
Yes. The SD Series cylindrical lock installs on standard 160 and 161 door preps and mounts with removable thru-bolts, so it replaces most standard-prep cylindrical levers without new boring. Standard backset is 2-3/4 inches, and the lock fits doors 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches thick, preset at the factory for 1-3/4.
3) My door has an odd backset, not 2-3/8 or 2-3/4. Can I still use the SD126?
Probably. Backset is a required selection on the SD126 and the choices run 2-3/8, 2-3/4, 3-3/4 and 5 inches, which is the widest backset range in PDQ's Grade 2 line. Each backset comes with a 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inch faceplate, a 2-1/4 x 1 inch faceplate, or a 2-1/4 x 1 inch with 1/4 inch radius corners, so you can match the existing mortise in the door edge.
4) Can I put the PDQ SD126 on a fire rated door?
Yes. The SD Series is UL listed for 3 hour fire doors on single openings up to 4'0" x 8'0". Specify the dust box option if your fire door assembly requires one behind the strike.
5) Do I need to know the hand of the door to order a PDQ SD126 lever?
Handing only matters with one lever. The SD Series is non-handed except with the Memphis lever, so Philadelphia, Boston, Miami and Orlando levers work on either hand and can be field reversed. Handing is still a required selection on the order, so choose Non-Handed unless you are specifying Memphis.
6) Will the PDQ SD126 latch into the strike already in my frame?
The latchbolt throws 1/2 inch, which is standard for a cylindrical latch. The lock ships standard with an ASA strike measuring 1-1/4 x 4-7/8 inches, and you can order a T-strike at 1-1/8 x 2-3/4 inches or a full lip strike at 1-5/8 x 2-1/4 inches instead to match the existing frame cutout.
7) Is the PDQ SD126 lever ADA compliant for a school or healthcare corridor?
Yes. The SD Series lever trim complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1, so it satisfies the no-tight-grasping requirement for accessible openings. The lock is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 standard duty and is TAA compliant, which matters on federally funded work.
8) What lever styles and finishes can I get on the PDQ SD126, and can I match two different finishes?
Lever choices are Philadelphia, Boston, Miami and Orlando, all solid diecast, each in five finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 622 flat black and 626 satin chrome. Roses are 3-3/8 inch wrought brass with concealed screws. If the corridor side and room side need different finishes, order the SF split finish option.
9) Can I use the SD126 passage lever on an opening with an electric strike for remote release?
Yes. The SD126 has no electrified option itself (it is a mechanical, non-electronic lock), but its standard ASA strike prep accepts an electric strike. That is the usual way to get buzz-in release on a passage opening without wiring the lock.
10) How do I standardize PDQ SD Series locks across a building if some doors are passage and some need keying?
The SD126 is the passage member of the family, so the trim, 3-3/8 inch rose and door prep match the keyed SD functions across the building. Keyed SD functions take a 6-pin SCC cylinder (Schlage C compatible) or 6 and 7-pin small format interchangeable cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow, so you can fold the keyed doors into an existing SFIC system. Note SFIC is not offered with the Memphis lever, and large format Schlage IC is only on the Philadelphia lever.
11) Is the PDQ SD126 built for a high traffic entrance?
The SD Series is Grade 2 standard duty, intended for commercial doors where value engineering matters more than maximum cycle life. The mechanism is heavy gauge cold rolled steel, dichromated against corrosion. For a heavy traffic main entrance, step up to a Grade 1 cylindrical lock; for office, closet and corridor passage doors the SD126 is the right class.
12) How is a PDQ SD126 part number built when I order?
The number is model, lever abbreviation, then finish, for example SD126PHL605 for a Philadelphia lever in bright brass or SD126BSN626 for a Boston lever in satin chrome. Beyond lever and finish you also select backset, handing, strike and any option (none, split finishes, or dust box) to complete the order.
