PDQ SF126 Grade 2 Passage Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 2 Standard Duty Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ SF126 is the Passage function (ANSI/BHMA F75) of the PDQ SF Series Grade 2 Standard Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ SF Series is a cost-focused ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 cylindrical lock for multi-family housing, senior living, student housing and light commercial projects. It fits standard 160 and 161 door preps with no additional thru-bolt and offers privacy, passage, entrance, storeroom and single dummy functions.

The SF uses a heavy-gauge cold rolled steel chassis, dichromated for corrosion resistance, and shares its levers with the PDQ SD and CL Series for a matching look across a building. It carries a three year limited warranty.

PDQ SF126PHL626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the PDQ SF126 passage lever fit a 1-3/8 inch door, or just 1-3/4?
It covers 1-3/8 inch through 1-3/4 inch doors and ships preset for 1-3/4 inch, so a thinner door needs the chassis adjusted down at install. The door has to carry a standard 160 or 161 cylindrical prep, and no extra thru-bolt is required.
2) Is the PDQ SF126 handed? I need it for a pair of doors swinging opposite ways.
Non-handed, so one part number works on left-hand and right-hand openings without any field reversal. That makes it simpler to stock a single SKU for a whole building.
3) Does the SF126 passage lock lock at all, or is it always free?
It is the passage function (ANSI/BHMA F75), which means the lever retracts the latch from either side at all times with no key and no locking. There is no cylinder and no thumbturn. For a door that needs to lock, you want the privacy, entrance or storeroom function in the same SF Series instead.
4) Can I use the SF126 on a fire rated corridor door?
Yes, but only with the right latch. The SF Series is UL/cUL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0" when ordered with a UL fixed backset latchbolt. The adjustable 2-3/8 to 2-3/4 inch latch that comes standard on non-keyed functions is NOT fire rated, so on a labeled door you must select one of the UL latches: 238, 238R, or 234.
5) Will the SF126 levers match the locks already installed in my building?
If the other doors carry PDQ SD or CL Series locks, yes. The SF Series uses the same Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Memphis and Orlando levers as the SD and CL, so a passage door on SF looks the same as a storeroom or entry door on the heavier series. Keep the finish and rose style consistent and the openings read as one set.
6) What do I have to specify when ordering a PDQ SF126?
Five decisions. Lever style (Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Memphis or Orlando), rose style (2-9/16 inch round or 2-15/16 inch square), finish, latch, and strike. There is also a Split Finishes option if you want different finishes inside and out. Configurations build into a single PDQ number, for example SF126PHL605.
7) Is the SF126 lever ADA compliant for an accessible route?
Yes. The SF Series complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1, and the lever design means no tight grasping or wrist twisting to operate. Since the passage function is always free, there is no locking hardware to complicate the accessible requirement.
8) Is a Grade 2 lock like the SF126 enough for apartment corridors and closets?
For the traffic it is aimed at, yes. The SF is ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 standard duty, built for multi-family, senior living, student housing and light commercial work. The chassis is heavy-gauge cold rolled steel, dichromated for corrosion resistance. For high-abuse public entrances or institutional traffic, step up to a Grade 1 cylindrical lock instead.
9) Does the SF126 passage lever come with keys or a cylinder?
No. SF126 is the non-keyed passage function, so there is no cylinder, no keyway and no keys in the box. Keying, SFIC cores and master keying apply to the keyed SF functions like entrance and storeroom, not to this one.
10) What finishes does the PDQ SF126 come in?
Seven: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. Levers are solid diecast on wrought brass roses with concealed screws, so there are no exposed fasteners to clash with the finish.
