PDQ GT120 Grade 1 Security Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 1 Heavy Duty Commercial Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ GT120 is the Security function of the PDQ GT Series Grade 1 Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ GT Series is a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical lock certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2. PDQ positions it as its general purpose Grade 1 lock for everyday commercial exterior and interior openings, with lever torque resistance of 2,200 lbf-in, three times the BHMA/ANSI standard, and cycle testing to over 3 times BHMA standards.

A heavy duty diecast chassis, machined billet steel spindles and a 13 gauge steel anti-rotation plate on the secure side give the lock its strength. A 2:1 latchbolt throw allows a 41 degree lever rotation, which reduces torque and extends the life of the lock. The GT is non-handed, assembled in Lancaster, PA, and offered in Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever styles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the GT strong enough for a busy school or office building, or is the XGT needed?
The GT handles standard to heavy commercial traffic and covers most exterior and interior doors in schools, offices and retail buildings. PDQ reserves the XGT, rated to 3,000 lbf-in of torque resistance, for openings facing extreme abuse or vandalism.

Is the GT fire rated and ADA compliant?
Yes. The GT is UL 10C listed for 3 hour fire doors (single doors up to 4' x 8') and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1.

Can the GT be used on hurricane rated openings in Florida?
Yes. It is approved for Florida HVHZ installations under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load rating of +/- 70.0 PSF on a 3' x 7' single door.

PDQ GT120BSN626L – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the PDQ GT120 fit a 2-inch thick door, or only 1-3/4 inch?
The GT120 covers doors from 1-3/4 inch up to 2-1/4 inch thick, so a 2 inch door is in range. It ships preset for 1-3/4 inch, so a thicker door needs the chassis adjusted at install. Prep is the standard ANSI A156.115 (161) cylindrical bore, and the lock mounts with through-door thru-bolting.
2) Can the PDQ GT120 be keyed into my existing Schlage or Best master key system?
Yes, in most of the common keyways. SCC (Schlage C compatible) is standard, and the GT120 can be ordered in Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1/60/L4, Russwin D1, Schlage E and C-K, Sargent LA and RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset (5-pin only), or PDQ's restricted TA. Keying options run KD, 0-bitted, KA2, KA4, KA, master keyed, master keyed to existing bittings, and construction master keyed. For interchangeable core systems, the SFIC prep takes 6 or 7-pin small format cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow; large format IC is Schlage and is only offered on the Philadelphia lever. Two keys come per lock.
3) Is the PDQ GT120 approved for a 3-hour fire door?
Yes. The GT120 is UL 10C listed for 3 hour fire doors on single doors up to 4 feet by 8 feet. It is also certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1 and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1.
4) Can I use the GT120 on an exterior door in a Florida hurricane zone?
It is approved for Florida HVHZ installations under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load of +/- 70.0 PSF on a 3 by 7 foot single door. For coastal exposure, PDQ also offers a weatherized finish and an antimicrobial coating, both limited to 626 Satin Chrome.
5) Do I have to specify handing when ordering a PDQ GT120 lever lock?
No. The GT120 is non-handed, so one lock works on a left or right hand door and you can stock a single part number across a building.
6) What does the GT120 Security function actually do on the door?
The GT120 is the Security function in PDQ's GT Series: a single-cylinder keyed cylindrical lever lock for everyday commercial exterior and interior openings. It is mechanical, not electronic. If you need the school lockdown functions instead, those are the GT135, GT135LED and GT145, which are the ones PDQ lists as California Education Code compliant.
7) Is the GT120 heavy duty enough for a high school corridor, or should I step up to the XGT?
The GT handles standard to heavy commercial traffic and is what PDQ puts on most school, office and retail openings, with 2,200 lbf-in of lever torque resistance (three times the BHMA/ANSI minimum) and cycle testing past three times the standard. Step to the XGT, rated 3,000 lbf-in, only where the opening sees extreme abuse or vandalism.
8) Will the GT120 lever hit the other leaf on a pair of doors?
On a pair, order the 2-3/4 inch latch configuration PDQ lists for double doors, which gives 65 degree lever rotation instead of the standard 41 degree. The 41 degree rotation comes from the 2:1 latchbolt throw on the 2-3/4 inch backset and is what reduces torque on single openings.
9) Can the PDQ GT120 be ordered less cylinder so I can install my own cores?
Yes. Cylinder choices include Less Cylinder, SFIC prep less core, SFIC prep with 6-pin or 7-pin core, SFIC prep with brass or plastic construction core, Schlage LFIC prep less core, LFIC prep with a Schlage core, LFIC prep with a construction core, or a conventional cylinder. Note that large format Schlage IC prep is offered on the Philadelphia lever only.
10) What extras can I add to a GT120 for an X-ray room or a vision-impaired application?
PDQ lists a lead-lined rose (LL) for X-ray and imaging rooms, and tactile abrasive coating for warning levers, available inside only (TC1IS), outside only (TC1OS), or both sides (TC2). A dust box (DB) for the strike, an antimicrobial coating and a weatherized finish (both 626 Satin Chrome only), a request-to-exit switch (REX) and an industry standard Molex connector (ISMC) are also orderable options.
11) Is the latch on the PDQ GT120 deadlocking, and what is the faceplate size?
Both backset versions use a deadlocking latch. The 2-3/4 inch backset carries a 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inch faceplate and the 2-3/8 inch backset a 2-1/4 x 1 inch faceplate, in stainless steel or wrought brass, beveled 1/8 inch in 2 inches. That matters if you are swapping into an existing latch mortise, since the two faceplates are not the same width.
12) What lever styles and finishes does the PDQ GT120 come in, and can I match existing trim?
Three lever styles: Philadelphia, Boston and Miami, all solid diecast on a 3-3/8 inch diameter wrought brass rose with concealed screws. Seven finishes: 605 Bright Brass, 606 Satin Brass, 613E Dark Oxidized Satin Bronze, 619 Satin Nickel, 622 Flat Black, 625 Bright Chrome and 626 Satin Chrome. If the corridor side and room side need different finishes, the SF split finish option covers it (designate outside trim first, then inside).
13) How do I write out a PDQ GT120 part number for a quote?
Each configuration carries its own PDQ number built from the function, lever and finish, for example GT120PHL605D for a Philadelphia lever in 605 Bright Brass. You still specify backset, strike, keyway, keying and any options (tactile coating, split finish, lead-lined rose, dust box, antimicrobial, REX, Molex, weatherized) alongside it.
