PDQ GT211 Grade 1 Single Dummy Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 1 Heavy Duty Commercial Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ GT211 is the Single Dummy function of the PDQ GT Series Grade 1 Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ GT Series is a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical lock certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2. PDQ positions it as its general purpose Grade 1 lock for everyday commercial exterior and interior openings, with lever torque resistance of 2,200 lbf-in, three times the BHMA/ANSI standard, and cycle testing to over 3 times BHMA standards.

A heavy duty diecast chassis, machined billet steel spindles and a 13 gauge steel anti-rotation plate on the secure side give the lock its strength. A 2:1 latchbolt throw allows a 41 degree lever rotation, which reduces torque and extends the life of the lock. The GT is non-handed, assembled in Lancaster, PA, and offered in Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever styles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the GT strong enough for a busy school or office building, or is the XGT needed?
The GT handles standard to heavy commercial traffic and covers most exterior and interior doors in schools, offices and retail buildings. PDQ reserves the XGT, rated to 3,000 lbf-in of torque resistance, for openings facing extreme abuse or vandalism.

Is the GT fire rated and ADA compliant?
Yes. The GT is UL 10C listed for 3 hour fire doors (single doors up to 4' x 8') and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1.

Can the GT be used on hurricane rated openings in Florida?
Yes. It is approved for Florida HVHZ installations under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load rating of +/- 70.0 PSF on a 3' x 7' single door.

PDQ GT211BSN626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the PDQ GT211 single dummy lever actually do, and does it have a latch?
The GT211 is the single dummy function of PDQ's GT Series cylindrical lever lock. A dummy trim is a fixed pull only: the lever does not rotate, there is no latch and no cylinder, so it will not hold a door closed. It is used on the inactive leaf of a pair, on closet and cabinet-style doors, or anywhere you need matching lever trim for appearance. If you need the door to latch, order an active function from the same GT Series instead.
2) Will the PDQ GT211 match the other GT Series levers already on my doors?
Yes, and that is the usual reason to buy it. The GT211 dummy uses the same GT Series lever styles (Philadelphia, Boston, Miami) and the same 3-3/8 inch diameter wrought brass rose with concealed screws as the keyed and passage functions, so a dummy on an inactive leaf reads identically to the working locks next to it. Order it in the same finish code to match, for example GT211PHL626 for 626 satin chrome with a Philadelphia lever.
3) Can the PDQ GT211 be used on a fire rated door?
The GT Series is UL 10C listed for 3 hour fire doors on single doors up to 4 feet by 8 feet, and it is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1. That makes it acceptable trim for rated openings. Keep in mind a dummy lever does nothing to latch the door, so the rated assembly still needs a proper latching device and closer on the active leaf.
4) What door thickness does the PDQ GT Series lever fit, and does the GT211 need a 161 prep?
The GT Series covers doors 1-3/4 inches to 2-1/4 inches thick, preset at the factory for 1-3/4 inches, using the standard ANSI A156.115 (161) cylindrical prep with through-door thru-bolting. If the leaf you are putting the dummy on is already bored 161, the trim goes straight on without new machining.
5) Which PDQ GT211 part number replaces a Schlage ND170 or Best 9K dummy trim?
PDQ cross references the GT211 against Best 9Kxx1DT, Corbin CL3350, Dorma C101, Falcon T12, Hager 3417, Marks DO, Sargent 10U93, Schlage ND170 and Accentra 5455LN. So a GT211 in the matching lever style and finish is PDQ's stated equivalent for an ND170 or a 9K dummy. Build the number as function, lever, finish, for example GT211BSN605.
6) Does the PDQ GT211 take a cylinder or a Best IC core?
No. The GT211 is the non-keyed single dummy function, so there is no cylinder bore and no core to install. If you need keyed trim, the keyed GT functions accept conventional cylinders in the SCC keyway (Schlage C compatible) or 6 and 7-pin small format interchangeable cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow; large format IC is offered on the Philadelphia lever only.
7) Is the GT211 dummy handed? I need trim for both a left and a right hand door.
Non-handed. One GT211 works on either hand of door, so you can stock a single part number for left and right hand openings and for either face of a pair.
8) Does the GT211 dummy lever meet ADA requirements?
Yes. The GT Series complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1, and the lever shape itself is what satisfies the no-tight-grasping requirement on an accessible route. For visually impaired warning on a hazardous door, a tactile abrasive coating can be added to the inside lever (TC1IS), the outside lever (TC1OS), or both (TC2).
9) I am specifying GT Series locks for a Florida coastal building. Is the GT approved for HVHZ?
Yes. The GT Series carries PDQ Product Approval FL 21376 for Florida High Velocity Hurricane Zone openings, with a design load of +/- 70.0 PSF on a 3 by 7 foot single door. For exterior coastal exposure, PDQ also offers a weatherized finish, available on 626 satin chrome only.
10) Are there options for a hospital or imaging suite, like antimicrobial or lead-lined trim?
Both are available on the GT Series. The antimicrobial coating (AM) covers the inside and outside lever and rose and is offered on 626 satin chrome only. A lead-lined rose (LL) can be specified for X-ray and imaging rooms, and a dust box (DB) is also available. Add a tactile abrasive coating if the door needs a hazard warning surface.
11) Should I use the GT Series or the XGT for a high-abuse opening like a school corridor?
The GT handles standard to heavy commercial traffic and is PDQ's general purpose Grade 1 lock for schools, offices and retail, with 2,200 lbf-in of lever torque resistance, three times the BHMA/ANSI minimum. Where the opening faces extreme abuse or deliberate vandalism, PDQ points to the XGT at 3,000 lbf-in instead. For a dummy trim specifically, torque matters less since the lever is fixed, so matching the rest of the hardware on the job is usually the deciding factor.
12) What finishes does the PDQ GT211 dummy lever come in?
Seven: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. All seven are available with any of the three lever styles, so Boston in flat black (GT211BSN622) or Miami in satin nickel (GT211MIA619) are both real combinations. Weatherized and antimicrobial coatings are offered on 626 satin chrome only.
13) Can I get the GT211 with two different finishes, one on each side of the door?
Split finishes (SF) are an option on the GT Series. When specifying, designate the outside trim finish first, then the inside. This is common where a corridor side has to match one finish scheme and the room side another.
