PDQ SF211 Grade 2 Single Dummy Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 2 Standard Duty Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ SF211 is the Single Dummy function of the PDQ SF Series Grade 2 Standard Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ SF Series is a cost-focused ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 cylindrical lock for multi-family housing, senior living, student housing and light commercial projects. It fits standard 160 and 161 door preps with no additional thru-bolt and offers privacy, passage, entrance, storeroom and single dummy functions.

The SF uses a heavy-gauge cold rolled steel chassis, dichromated for corrosion resistance, and shares its levers with the PDQ SD and CL Series for a matching look across a building. It carries a three year limited warranty.

PDQ SF211PHL626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the PDQ SF211 single dummy lever actually do, and does it latch?
The SF211 is the single dummy function of the PDQ SF Series cylindrical lever line. Single dummy means a fixed lever on one face of the door used as a pull only. It does not turn, does not retract a latch, and is non-keyed. Use it on the inactive leaf of a pair, on a closet or cased opening, or anywhere you want the lever look to match the working locks without any locking or latching action.
2) Will the SF211 dummy lever match the working locksets on my other doors?
It will if those doors use PDQ. The SF Series levers (Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Memphis, Orlando) are shared with the PDQ SD and CL Series, so a dummy trim on a closet or an inactive leaf reads the same as the entry and privacy locks down the hall. Order it in the same lever style, the same rose (2-9/16 inch round or 2-15/16 inch square), and the same finish as the rest of the opening.
3) What door thickness does the PDQ SF series lever fit, and does it need a thru-bolt?
The SF Series fits doors 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches thick and arrives preset for 1-3/4 inches, which is the standard commercial thickness. It mounts in standard 160 or 161 door prep with no additional thru-bolt required, so an existing cylindrical prep takes it directly.
4) What do I have to specify when ordering a PDQ SF211?
Three choices build the part number: lever style (Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, Memphis, Orlando), rose style (round or square), and finish. Finishes are 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. There is also a split finish option if the two sides need to differ. Each combination carries its own PDQ number, for example SF211PHL605.
5) Can I use a dummy lever on a fire rated door?
A dummy trim has no latch, so it does not provide the positive latching a fire door assembly requires. The SF Series UL/cUL 10C listing for 3-hour fire doors applies to single doors up to 4 feet by 8 feet when the lock is ordered with the UL fixed backset latchbolt, which means a latching SF function, not the dummy. Put a latching SF lock on the rated leaf and save the dummy for non-rated openings or an inactive leaf handled per the assembly's listing.
6) Is the SF211 handed? I need one for the inactive leaf of a pair.
No handing to specify. The SF Series is non-handed, so the same dummy lever works on a left or right hand leaf and you do not have to field-reverse anything.
7) Is the PDQ SF211 strong enough for apartment and student housing corridors?
The SF Series is an ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 standard duty cylindrical line aimed at multi-family, senior living, student housing and light commercial work. The mechanism is heavy-gauge cold rolled steel, dichromated for corrosion resistance, and the levers are solid diecast on wrought brass roses with concealed screws. For heavy traffic openings in that same building, a Grade 1 cylindrical line is the step up.
8) Does the PDQ SF211 dummy lever meet ADA lever requirements?
The SF Series complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI A117.1, and the lever shape is what satisfies the no-tight-grasping requirement on an accessible opening. It is also TAA compliant, which matters on government and federally funded jobs.
9) What backset does the PDQ SF series use if I switch to a latching function?
Non-keyed SF functions use an adjustable 2-3/8 to 2-3/4 inch latch as standard, so one latch covers both common commercial backsets. Keyed functions come with a fixed 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch UL fire-rated latch, and that fixed latch is available as an option on non-keyed functions. The front is 1 inch face width with a 1/4 inch radius, and a square corner filler is included to fill a 1-1/8 inch wide prep.
10) If I need keyed SF locks on the same job, what keyway and core options are there?
Keyed SF functions take a 6-pin brass insert cylinder keyed to 5 pins in the SCC (Schlage C compatible) keyway as standard, with other manufacturers' keyways and high security cylinders available. Alternatively a 6 or 7-pin small format interchangeable core compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow can be specified, though not with the Memphis lever. Keying options cover MK, CMK, GMK, KO, KD and KA, and the locks can be keyed into an existing master key system. Two keys ship per lock. None of this applies to the SF211 dummy, which is non-keyed.
11) Which rose should I pick for the SF211, round or square?
Round is a 2-9/16 inch diameter rose and square is 2-15/16 inch, both wrought brass with concealed screws. The practical driver is coverage: on a retrofit, the larger square rose hides more of the old escutcheon footprint, while round is the conventional look. Whichever you choose, keep it consistent with the latching locks on the same opening so the trim matches.
