PDQ GP205 Grade 2 Double Dummy Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 2 Heavy Duty Commercial Cylindrical Lever Lock

The PDQ GP205 is the Double Dummy function of the PDQ GP Series Grade 2 Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ GP Series is an ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 cylindrical lever lock with a heavy duty diecast chassis. Its lever torque resistance of 1,500 lbf-in is tested to three times the ANSI/BHMA standard.

The GP Series complements PDQ's Grade 1 GT and XGT cylindrical locks, using the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever designs and rose options. That lets a building put Grade 1 hardware on exterior and high-traffic doors and GP locks on low to medium traffic openings without a visual mismatch. GP locks are assembled in Lancaster, PA and carry an 8-year limited warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the GP and PDQ's Grade 1 GT lock?
GP is Grade 2, rated for lower-traffic openings, while GT is Grade 1 for heavy-duty use. GP shares the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever designs as GT, so a project can specify GT on exterior and high-traffic doors and GP on interior doors without a visual mismatch.

Is the GP lock fire rated and ADA compliant?
Yes. GP is UL listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0" and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1 accessibility standards.

What door prep and backset does the GP use?
GP is a thru-bolt design that fits standard 160/161 door prep on doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick, with a 2-3/4" standard or 2-3/8" backset.

PDQ GP205PHL606 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the double dummy function on the PDQ GP205 actually do?
The GP205 is the double dummy function of the PDQ GP Series cylindrical lever lock, so it is non-keyed and has a fixed lever on both faces of the door. There is no latching or locking action, you pull or push the door. It is the function used on inactive leaves of a pair, closet and cabinet-style openings, or a second door that has to match the look of working levers elsewhere in the building.
2) Will the PDQ GP205 lever fit a 1-3/8 inch door, or only a 1-3/4 inch?
Both. The GP Series thru-bolt design covers doors 1-3/8 inches through 1-3/4 inches thick, and it ships preset for a 1-3/4 inch door. On a thinner door you adjust at install rather than ordering a different part.
3) Does the PDQ GP205 drop into an existing 161 door prep?
Yes. The GP Series fits standard 160 and 161 door prep, which is the normal cylindrical bore on commercial doors, so it goes into an opening already prepped for a cylindrical lockset. Backset is 2-3/4 inches standard with 2-3/8 inches available.
4) Can I use the PDQ GP205 on a fire-rated door?
The GP Series is UL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4 feet by 8 feet, and it complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1 for lever operation. Note the listing is for single doors at that size, so a pair or an oversize leaf needs to be verified against your door and frame label.
5) I have PDQ GT Grade 1 locks on my exterior doors. Will a GP205 match them visually?
Yes, that is the point of the GP line. GP uses the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever designs and the same 3-3/8 inch diameter wrought brass rose with concealed screws as PDQ's Grade 1 GT and XGT cylindrical locks. You can run GT on exterior and high-traffic openings and GP205 dummies on interior doors without a mismatch, as long as you keep the finish code the same.
6) Do I have to specify handing when I order a GP205 double dummy?
No. The GP Series is non-handed, so one part works on a left or right hand door and you do not need to call out the swing on the order.
7) Should I buy Grade 2 GP or Grade 1 GT for my openings?
Pick by traffic. GP is ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 with a heavy duty diecast chassis and is intended for low to medium traffic interior openings. PDQ's GT is the Grade 1 lock for exterior and high-use doors. Many projects mix the two, Grade 1 where the abuse is and GP where it is not, because the trim matches.
8) What lever styles and finishes does the PDQ GP205 come in?
Three lever styles, Philadelphia, Boston and Miami, each in seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. All 21 combinations are orderable, for example GP205PHL605 or GP205MIA626. Levers rotate 65 degrees and are solid diecast.
9) Can I get the PDQ GP205 for a healthcare or X-ray room where the rose needs lead lining?
Yes. A lead-lined rose (LL) is an option on the GP Series, and so is an antimicrobial coating on the levers and roses, though the antimicrobial is 626 satin chrome only. Tactile abrasive coating is also available inside only, outside only, or both sides, which is what you use to warn of a hazardous room.
10) Does the GP205 take a key or accept an interchangeable core?
No. The GP205 is the non-keyed double dummy, so there is no cylinder in it. Keying options on the GP Series, including the SCC Schlage C compatible keyway and small format IC cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow, apply to the keyed functions in the series, not to this one.
11) Is the PDQ GP205 strong enough for a school or multi-family corridor?
The GP Series is built on a heavy duty diecast, investment cast and cold rolled steel chassis with a stainless steel mechanism, a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate on the secure side, and 1,500 lbf-in of lever torque resistance, three times the BHMA/ANSI requirement. PDQ positions it for low to medium traffic, so for a main corridor or exterior entry on a high-use building the Grade 1 GT is the better call.
12) Can I order a PDQ GP205 with a different finish inside than outside?
Yes, split finishes (SF) are an option on the GP Series. When you specify it, designate the outside trim finish first and then the inside. It is a common choice when a corridor side has to match one finish scheme and the room side another.
