PDQ GT205 Grade 1 Double Dummy Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 1 Heavy Duty Commercial Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ GT205 is the Double Dummy function of the PDQ GT Series Grade 1 Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ GT Series is a Grade 1 heavy duty cylindrical lock certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2. PDQ positions it as its general purpose Grade 1 lock for everyday commercial exterior and interior openings, with lever torque resistance of 2,200 lbf-in, three times the BHMA/ANSI standard, and cycle testing to over 3 times BHMA standards.

A heavy duty diecast chassis, machined billet steel spindles and a 13 gauge steel anti-rotation plate on the secure side give the lock its strength. A 2:1 latchbolt throw allows a 41 degree lever rotation, which reduces torque and extends the life of the lock. The GT is non-handed, assembled in Lancaster, PA, and offered in Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever styles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the GT strong enough for a busy school or office building, or is the XGT needed?
The GT handles standard to heavy commercial traffic and covers most exterior and interior doors in schools, offices and retail buildings. PDQ reserves the XGT, rated to 3,000 lbf-in of torque resistance, for openings facing extreme abuse or vandalism.

Is the GT fire rated and ADA compliant?
Yes. The GT is UL 10C listed for 3 hour fire doors (single doors up to 4' x 8') and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1.

Can the GT be used on hurricane rated openings in Florida?
Yes. It is approved for Florida HVHZ installations under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load rating of +/- 70.0 PSF on a 3' x 7' single door.

PDQ GT205BSN626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the double dummy function on the PDQ GT205 actually do?
Double dummy means levers on both sides of the door that do not turn and do not operate a latch. The GT205 is non-keyed and has no latchbolt or cylinder, so it is pull trim only, used on the inactive leaf of a pair, on a closet or on a door held shut by a ball catch or magnetic catch. If you need the door to latch, you need a passage, privacy or keyed GT function instead.
2) Will the GT205 dummy lever match the other GT Series locks on the rest of my doors?
It will. The GT205 uses the same GT Series trim, so order it in the same lever style and finish as your working locks and the inactive leaf looks identical. Lever styles are Philadelphia, Boston and Miami, with a 3-3/8 inch diameter wrought brass rose and concealed screws, and finishes are 605 Bright Brass, 606 Satin Brass, 613E Dark Oxidized Satin Bronze, 619 Satin Nickel, 622 Flat Black, 625 Bright Chrome and 626 Satin Chrome.
3) Does a dummy lever need a 161 bore, or can it mount on a blank door?
The GT Series mounts in the standard ANSI A156.115 (161) cylindrical prep with through-door thru-bolting, and it fits doors 1-3/4 to 2-1/4 inches thick, preset for 1-3/4. On an existing 161-prepped door the GT205 drops straight in. On a door with no prep, the mounting still follows the same prep pattern, so plan on boring it rather than surface mounting.
4) Is the PDQ GT205 dummy lever OK on a fire rated door?
The GT Series is UL 10C listed for 3 hour fire doors on single doors up to 4 feet by 8 feet, and it is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1. On a fire rated pair, remember the dummy side provides no latching, so the fire door assembly still depends on the active leaf hardware and any flush bolts specified for the inactive leaf.
5) Does handing matter when ordering the PDQ GT205?
No. The GT is non-handed, so one part number covers left and right hand doors and you do not need to specify swing. That also means you can stock a single dummy for a building with mixed handing.
6) Is there an antimicrobial or weatherized version of the GT lever for a healthcare or coastal job?
Both are available, and both only on 626 Satin Chrome. The antimicrobial coating (AM) covers the inside and outside lever and rose, and a weatherized finish option is offered on the same 626. A lead-lined rose (LL) is also on the option list, which is what imaging suites usually call for.
7) Is the GT205 ADA compliant for a school or public building?
The GT Series complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1, and the lever shape itself satisfies the no-tight-grasping requirement. Tactile abrasive coating is available if your spec calls for a hazard warning surface, inside only, outside only, or both sides.
8) Can the GT205 be used on a Florida hurricane rated opening?
The GT Series is approved for Florida HVHZ under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load of plus or minus 70.0 PSF on a 3 by 7 foot single door. For a coastal exterior door, pair that approval with the 626 weatherized finish option.
9) How tough is the PDQ GT lever trim for a high traffic corridor?
Grade 1 heavy duty, with 2,200 lbf-in of lever torque resistance, three times the BHMA/ANSI requirement, and cycle testing to over three times BHMA standards. Construction is a heavy duty diecast chassis with chromated cold rolled and stainless steel mechanism, solid diecast levers, and a 13 gauge steel anti-rotation plate on the secure side. PDQ keeps its XGT, rated to 3,000 lbf-in, for openings facing extreme abuse or vandalism.
10) Does the GT205 come with keys or a cylinder?
No. The GT205 is the non-keyed double dummy function, so there is no cylinder, no keyway and no keys in the box. Keyed GT functions are the ones that take conventional cylinders in SCC (Schlage C compatible) keyway or 6 and 7 pin small format IC cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow.
11) Can I get a GT lever with different finishes inside and outside?
Yes, split finishes (SF) are an option on the GT. Designate the outside trim finish first, then the inside, and the set is priced at the higher of the two finishes. That is the usual route when a storefront side has to match aluminum and the interior side has to match the rest of the building.
12) Is the GT205 electrified, and what are the REX and Molex options for?
The GT205 double dummy is a mechanical, non-electronic trim. Request to Exit (REX) and the industry standard Molex connector (ISMC) appear on the GT option list for the electrified GT functions that monitor or wire the lever; they are not a way to make a dummy lever operate anything.
