The PDQ SX176 is the Privacy function (ANSI/BHMA F76) of the PDQ SX Series Grade 1 Heavy Duty Ball Knob Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ SX Series is a ball knob cylindrical lock that meets ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1 and is designed to withstand high-traffic environments. It fits standard 160 or 161 door prep, so it can be used to retrofit existing doors.

The SX uses a CQ ball knob in 630 satin stainless steel finish, is UL/cUL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0", and is backed by a 5-year limited warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the SX lock ADA compliant?
No. Its round ball knob trim does not meet ADA/ICC A117.1 operable-parts requirements, which call for hardware operable without tight grasping or twisting. The SX should be specified only where knob hardware is code-permitted.

What is the difference between the SX and PDQ's GT and XGT locks?
The SX is also Grade 1, but it uses a CQ ball knob rather than a lever and carries a 5-year limited warranty. It is a lower-cost Grade 1 option where lever trim is not required.

Can the SX retrofit an existing door?
Yes. The SX is built for standard 160 or 161 cylindrical lock prep with 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset options, so it fits most existing commercial door cutouts as a replacement for worn knob locks.
