PDQ XGT116 Grade 1 Entrance Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 1 Extra Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ XGT116 is the Entrance function (ANSI/BHMA F109) of the PDQ XGT Series Grade 1 Extra Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ XGT Series is an extra heavy duty cylindrical lock certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1 and cycle tested to over 3 times the BHMA standard. A 2:1 latch bolt throw allows a 41 degree lever rotation with the 2-3/4" backset, which reduces torque and lengthens the life of the lock.

XGT is the step up from the GT Series for doors that face heavy abuse, with 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque resistance and a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate. It is assembled in Lancaster, PA.

Key Features

  • Heavy duty diecast chassis with investment cast, cold rolled steel and stainless steel mechanism
  • 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate for added stability
  • 3,000 lbf-in lever torque resistance, about 4 times the ANSI/BHMA standard
  • Solid diecast Philadelphia, Boston or Miami levers on 3-3/8" wrought brass roses with concealed screws
  • Non-handed; fits doors 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" thick with through-bolted mounting and a standard ANSI A156.115 (161) prep
  • Keyed functions take a Schlage C compatible conventional cylinder, small format IC cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow, or Schlage large format IC cores (Philadelphia lever only)
  • UL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors, single doors up to 4' x 8', and approved for the Florida High Velocity Hurricane Zone

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the PDQ XGT and GT cylindrical locks?
Both are ANSI/BHMA Grade 1. XGT is rated for 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque resistance, about 4 times the ANSI/BHMA standard, versus 2,200 lbf-in for GT. XGT also uses a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate and is cycle tested to over 3 times BHMA standards.

Is the XGT lock fire rated?
Yes. XGT is UL listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0", meeting UL 10C requirements.

What door thicknesses and backsets fit the XGT lock?
XGT fits doors 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" thick (preset for 1-3/4") with a 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset, and it is non-handed, so one unit installs on any door hand.

PDQ XGT116BSN626SFC – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the PDQ XGT116 fit a 2-inch thick door, or only 1-3/4 inch?
The XGT116 entrance lever lock covers doors from 1-3/4 inch to 2-1/4 inch thick, so a 2 inch door is fine. It ships preset for 1-3/4 inch, so you adjust it up at install. It mounts through-bolted into a standard ANSI A156.115 (161) cylindrical prep.
2) Do I need to order a left-hand or right-hand XGT116?
No handing to specify. The XGT116 is non-handed, so a single unit installs on any door swing. That makes it simple to stock one part number for a whole building.
3) Which backset should I order on the PDQ XGT116?
2-3/4 inch is the standard and what most commercial doors are bored for; 2-3/8 inch is the option, usually on lighter or residential-style doors. The two also differ at the face: 2-3/4 inch uses a 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inch faceplate, 2-3/8 inch uses 2-1/4 x 1 inch. The 2-3/4 inch backset is also what gives the 41 degree lever rotation.
4) What does the Entrance function on the XGT116 actually do?
Entrance function, ANSI/BHMA F109. It is a single-cylinder keyed lock: key retracts the latch from outside, and the inside lever always retracts the latch for free egress. One cylinder, outside only.
5) Can I key the PDQ XGT116 into my existing Best or Schlage system?
Yes, in several ways. Keyed versions take a Schlage C compatible conventional cylinder (SCC is the standard keyway), small format interchangeable cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow, or Schlage large format IC cores, and the LFIC option is available on the Philadelphia lever only. Keyways offered include Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1, 60 and L4, Russwin D1, Schlage C, C-K and E, Sargent LA and RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset 5-pin, and PDQ TA restricted. Keying options run from keyed different and 0-bitted through keyed alike, master keyed, master keyed to existing bittings, and construction master keyed.
6) Is the XGT116 lever lock approved for a fire-rated stairwell door?
Yes. The XGT116 is UL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4 ft by 8 ft. Stairwells are one of its stated applications. It also complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1 for the lever operation.
7) Is the PDQ XGT worth it over the GT series for a high-abuse door?
Both carry ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1. The step up is abuse resistance: XGT is rated 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque resistance versus 2,200 for GT, adds a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate, and is cycle tested to over 3 times the BHMA standard. For a school corridor, a stairwell, or an exterior entry that gets hung on, XGT is the one. On a lower-traffic interior opening the GT is the lighter-duty choice.
8) Can the PDQ XGT116 be used on a coastal or hurricane-zone exterior entry?
It is approved for the Florida High Velocity Hurricane Zone under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load of plus/minus 70.0 PSF on a 3 ft by 7 ft single door. For salt exposure there is a weatherized finish option, available on 626 Satin Chrome only.
9) Does the XGT116 work on a pair of doors?
Yes, but specify the double-door latch. Standard lever rotation is 41 degrees with the 2-3/4 inch backset; a 2-3/4 inch latch for double doors gives 65 degrees of rotation. The UL 3-hour fire listing covers single doors up to 4 ft by 8 ft, so for a rated pair confirm the opening against that listing.
10) What options can I add to the XGT116 for a healthcare or detention-style facility?
Several trim and prep options are specified at order: antimicrobial coating on the lever set inside and out (626 finish only), a lead-lined rose for X-ray rooms, tactile abrasive coating for hazardous-room identification (inside only, outside only, or both sides), and a dust box for the strike pocket. For access control tie-in there is a Request to Exit switch and an industry standard Molex connector.
11) What finishes and lever styles does the PDQ XGT116 come in?
Seven finishes: 605 Bright Brass, 606 Satin Brass, 613E Dark Oxidized Satin Bronze, 619 Satin Nickel, 622 Flat Black, 625 Bright Chrome and 626 Satin Chrome. Three solid diecast lever designs, Philadelphia, Boston and Miami, all on 3-3/8 inch wrought brass roses with concealed screws. If you need to match different finishes inside and out on the same door, the split finish option covers that; designate the outside trim first, then the inside.
12) How many keys come with the PDQ XGT116?
Two keys per lock. If you are ordering a run of locks for one building, set the keying at order time, keyed alike in groups, master keyed, or construction master keyed, rather than rekeying in the field. The 0-bitted option ships with 2 blank keys if your locksmith is pinning them on site.
13) Is the XGT116 an electronic or access-control lock?
No, the XGT116 is a mechanical key-operated cylindrical lever lock, not electronic. It can carry a Request to Exit switch and a Molex connector so it reports to a system, but the locking itself is mechanical.
