PDQ GP116 Grade 2 Entrance Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 2 Heavy Duty Commercial Cylindrical Lever Lock

The PDQ GP116 is the Entrance function (ANSI/BHMA F109) of the PDQ GP Series Grade 2 Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ GP Series is an ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 cylindrical lever lock with a heavy duty diecast chassis. Its lever torque resistance of 1,500 lbf-in is tested to three times the ANSI/BHMA standard.

The GP Series complements PDQ's Grade 1 GT and XGT cylindrical locks, using the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever designs and rose options. That lets a building put Grade 1 hardware on exterior and high-traffic doors and GP locks on low to medium traffic openings without a visual mismatch. GP locks are assembled in Lancaster, PA and carry an 8-year limited warranty.

Key Features

  • Heavy duty diecast, investment cast and cold rolled steel chassis with stainless steel mechanism
  • 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate installed on the secure side

  • UL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0"; complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the GP and PDQ's Grade 1 GT lock?
GP is Grade 2, rated for lower-traffic openings, while GT is Grade 1 for heavy-duty use. GP shares the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami lever designs as GT, so a project can specify GT on exterior and high-traffic doors and GP on interior doors without a visual mismatch.

Is the GP lock fire rated and ADA compliant?
Yes. GP is UL listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0" and complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1 accessibility standards.

What door prep and backset does the GP use?
GP is a thru-bolt design that fits standard 160/161 door prep on doors 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick, with a 2-3/4" standard or 2-3/8" backset.

PDQ GP116BSN626D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the PDQ GP116 fit a 1-3/8 inch door, or is it only for 1-3/4 inch?
The GP116 is a thru-bolt cylindrical lever lock built for doors 1-3/8 inches through 1-3/4 inches thick, and it ships preset for 1-3/4 inches. On a 1-3/8 inch door you adjust the thru-bolt assembly down at install. It drops into standard 160 and 161 door prep, so an existing cylindrical prep normally takes it without rework.
2) Can I use the GP116 to replace a Schlage ALX53 or Sargent 7G05 entrance lock?
PDQ lists the GP116 as its cross reference for the Schlage ALx53 and Sargent 7G05, along with Arrow MLx81, Best 7KC AB, Corbin CL3851, Dorma Arch C253, Falcon B511, Hager 3553, Dorma Comm QCL250 and Accentra 5307LN. All are F109 entrance function cylindrical locks in the same 160/161 prep, so the swap is a like-for-like function change. Order the backset that matches the hole you already have, 2-3/4 inch standard or 2-3/8 inch optional.
3) What does the Entrance function on the PDQ GP116 actually do at the door?
Entrance function, ANSI/BHMA F109. Key in the outside lever retracts the latch; the inside lever is always free for egress. It is a single cylinder lock, so there is no keyed cylinder on the inside. If you need a classroom or storeroom behavior instead, that is a different function in the GP family, not a configurable option on the GP116.
4) Will the GP116 latch into the strike plate already in my frame?
The latchbolt has a 1/2 inch throw and the standard strike is ASA, 1-1/4 by 4-7/8 inches, which is the common commercial frame cutout. If your frame has a smaller prep, order it with the T-Strike at 1-1/8 by 2-3/4 inches or the Full Lip Strike at 1-5/8 by 2-1/4 inches instead. A 1/2 inch throw is a latch only, so it does not give you deadbolt-level security on its own.
5) Can the GP116 be keyed into my existing Best or Falcon small format interchangeable core system?
Yes. The GP116 can be ordered with SFIC prep, which accepts Best, Falcon and Arrow small format cores. Options are SFIC prep with a 6-pin core, with a 7-pin core, less core, with a construction core, or with a plastic construction core. For Schlage large format systems there is Schlage LFIC prep with a Schlage core, less core, or with a construction core. If you are not using interchangeable cores, the conventional cylinder is a 6-pin brass cylinder in SCC, Schlage C compatible, keyway.
6) Can PDQ GP116 locks be master keyed to the bittings I already use in my building?
Yes. Keying choices include keyed different, 0-bitted with two blank keys, keyed alike in 2 or less, 3-4, or 5 or more, master keyed, master keyed to existing bittings, and construction master keyed. Keyways run well past Schlage C: Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1, Corbin 60, Corbin L4, Russwin D1, Schlage E, Schlage C, Schlage C-K, Sargent LA, Sargent RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R, Accentra GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset 5-pin only, and PDQ TA restricted. Each keyed lock comes with two keys.
7) Do I have to specify handing when I order a PDQ GP116?
No. The GP116 is non-handed, so one lock covers left and right hand openings. That makes it easier to stock as a spare across a building, since you do not need both hands on the shelf.
8) Should I use the GP Series or PDQ's Grade 1 GT lock for my building?
Put the GP116 on low to medium traffic interior openings and the Grade 1 GT or XGT on exterior and high-use doors. GP is ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 with a heavy duty diecast chassis, lever torque resistance of 1,500 lbf-in. The useful part for a property manager is that GP uses the same Philadelphia, Boston and Miami levers and the same rose, so mixing grades across a floor does not look mismatched.
9) Is there a GP116 option for an x-ray room or a healthcare corridor?
Two options cover those. A lead-lined rose (LL) is available for radiology and imaging rooms, and an antimicrobial coating (AM) can be applied to the lever set including inside and outside levers and roses, in 626 satin chrome only. A weatherized finish is also 626 only. For visually impaired signalling on hazardous doors, tactile abrasive coating can be specified inside only, outside only, or both sides.
10) What finishes and lever styles does the PDQ GP116 come in, and can I mix finishes inside and out?
Seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. Lever styles are Philadelphia, Boston and Miami on a 3-3/8 inch diameter wrought brass rose with concealed screws. Split finishes can be ordered at a higher finish price; designate the outside trim first, then the inside.
11) How is a PDQ GP116 part number built when I order?
Each configuration gets its own PDQ number. The pattern runs model, lever, finish and cylinder, for example GP116PHL605D for a Philadelphia lever in 605 bright brass. Backset, strike, keyway, keying and the optional coatings are selected alongside it.
12) Is the GP116 a mechanical lock or does it need power or wiring?
Purely mechanical. The GP116 is a non-electronic cylindrical lever lock with a stainless steel mechanism and a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate on the secure side, so there is no wiring, no power supply and no access control integration. If you need credential-based access on the opening, this is not the lock.
