PDQ XGT145 Classroom / Security w/Locking Direction Arrow

Grade 1 Extra Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ XGT145 is the Classroom / Security w/Locking Direction Arrow function (ANSI/BHMA F110) of the PDQ XGT Series Grade 1 Extra Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ XGT Series is an extra heavy duty cylindrical lock certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1 and cycle tested to over 3 times the BHMA standard. A 2:1 latch bolt throw allows a 41 degree lever rotation with the 2-3/4" backset, which reduces torque and lengthens the life of the lock.

XGT is the step up from the GT Series for doors that face heavy abuse, with 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque resistance and a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate. It is assembled in Lancaster, PA.

Key Features

  • Heavy duty diecast chassis with investment cast, cold rolled steel and stainless steel mechanism
  • 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate for added stability
  • 3,000 lbf-in lever torque resistance, about 4 times the ANSI/BHMA standard
  • Solid diecast Philadelphia, Boston or Miami levers on 3-3/8" wrought brass roses with concealed screws
  • Non-handed; fits doors 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" thick with through-bolted mounting and a standard ANSI A156.115 (161) prep
  • Keyed functions take a Schlage C compatible conventional cylinder, small format IC cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow, or Schlage large format IC cores (Philadelphia lever only)
  • UL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors, single doors up to 4' x 8', and approved for the Florida High Velocity Hurricane Zone
  • Complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1; Limited Lifetime Warranty on the mechanical lock

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the PDQ XGT and GT cylindrical locks?
Both are ANSI/BHMA Grade 1. XGT is rated for 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque resistance, about 4 times the ANSI/BHMA standard, versus 2,200 lbf-in for GT. XGT also uses a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate and is cycle tested to over 3 times BHMA standards.

Is the XGT lock fire rated?
Yes. XGT is UL listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0", meeting UL 10C requirements.

What door thicknesses and backsets fit the XGT lock?
XGT fits doors 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" thick (preset for 1-3/4") with a 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset, and it is non-handed, so one unit installs on any door hand.

PDQ XGT145BSN626L – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the PDQ XGT145 classroom security function actually do, and what is the locking direction arrow for?
The XGT145 is the ANSI/BHMA F110 classroom/security function. The key in the outside cylinder locks and unlocks the outside lever, so the room can be secured from either side of the door without unlocking the egress side; the inside lever always retracts the latch. The locking direction arrow is marked on the cylinder face so a teacher or staff member can see at a glance which way to turn the key to lock down the door, which is why this function is called out as California Education Code compliant along with the XGT135 and XGT135LED.
2) Will the PDQ XGT145 fit a 2 inch thick door, or only 1-3/4 inch?
Doors from 1-3/4 inch up to 2-1/4 inch thick are covered. The lock ships preset for a 1-3/4 inch door and is through-bolted, so a 2 inch leaf is within range without special parts. Prep is the standard ANSI A156.115 (161) cylindrical prep.
3) Can the PDQ XGT145 go into existing 161 prep with a 2-3/8 inch backset, and will the latch still catch my strike?
Yes. The XGT145 is offered with a 2-3/4 inch backset as standard or a 2-3/8 inch backset as an option, both deadlocking. Throw differs: 1/2 inch at the 2-3/8 inch backset and 9/16 inch at 2-3/4 inch. The faceplate also changes, 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inches on the 2-3/4 backset and 2-1/4 x 1 inch on the 2-3/8, so match the backset to what is bored in the door and the existing faceplate mortise.
4) Do I need to order the PDQ XGT145 handed for a left or right hand door?
No handing to specify. The XGT145 is non-handed, so one lock installs on any swing and any hand, which is what makes it practical to stock a single part number across a building.
5) Is the PDQ XGT145 lever lock approved for a 3 hour fire door?
Fire rated, UL 10C listed for 3 hours on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0". It is also approved for the Florida High Velocity Hurricane Zone under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load of +/- 70.0 PSF on a 3' x 7' single door, and it complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1.
6) Will the PDQ XGT145 work on my existing Schlage, Best or Arrow keyway so I do not have to rekey the building?
Yes, in several ways. The standard conventional cylinder is Schlage C compatible (SCC). For interchangeable core systems you can order SFIC prep, which takes small format cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow, or Schlage large format IC prep, which is available with the Philadelphia lever only. Keyways offered include Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1, Corbin 60, Corbin L4, Russwin D1, Schlage C, Schlage C-K, Schlage E, Sargent LA, Sargent RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset in 5-pin only, and the restricted PDQ TA. Keying choices run from keyed different and 0-bitted through KA2, KA4, KA, master keyed, master keyed to existing bittings, and construction master keyed.
7) Should I specify the PDQ XGT or the GT series for a high abuse stairwell door?
Go XGT where the door takes abuse. Both series are ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1, but XGT resists 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque against 2,200 lbf-in for GT, adds a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate, and is cycle tested to over three times the BHMA standard. XGT is the extra heavy duty choice for high-traffic exterior entries, stairwells and vandalism-prone openings. GT is the lighter-duty step down for ordinary interior traffic.
8) What lever styles and finishes does the PDQ XGT145 come in if I need it to match the rest of my building?
Three lever designs, Philadelphia, Boston and Miami, all solid diecast on 3-3/8 inch diameter wrought brass roses with concealed screws. Seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. Split finishes (SF) are available if the corridor side has to differ from the room side; designate the outside trim first, then the inside. Note the Schlage large format IC option is restricted to the Philadelphia lever.
9) What extras can I add to a PDQ XGT145 order for a hospital, lab or exterior opening?
Several add-ons are specified at order time: antimicrobial coating (AM) on the levers and roses, available in 626 only; a lead-lined rose (LL) for x-ray rooms; weatherized finish for exterior exposure, also 626 only; tactile abrasive coating for hazard marking, inside only (TC1IS), outside only (TC1OS) or both sides (TC2); a dust box; request to exit (REX) switching; and an industry standard Molex connector (ISMC) for terminating that switch wiring. The lock itself is mechanical, not electronic.
10) Can the PDQ XGT145 be used on a pair of doors?
Yes, with the right latch. Standard lever rotation is 41 degrees using the 2-3/4 inch backset, achieved by the 2:1 latch bolt throw, which reduces torque on the chassis. For double doors the 2-3/4 inch latch is used with 65 degree lever rotation, so call that out when the opening is a pair.
11) Do PDQ XGT145 locks come with keys, and can I order them less cylinder for my own cores?
Two keys ship with each keyed lock. If you key the building yourself, order Less Cylinder, SFIC Prep Less Core, or Schlage LFIC Prep Less Core. Construction keying is covered too, with SFIC prep plus a metal or plastic construction core, or Schlage LFIC prep with a construction core, plus CMK construction master keying and 0-bitted with two blank keys.
12) Does the PDQ XGT145 need a thicker door edge or special reinforcement, and what is the faceplate bevel?
Standard commercial prep is all it takes. The front measures 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inches in stainless steel or wrought brass, beveled 1/8 inch in 2 inches, which is the normal door edge bevel, so it sits flush in a standard 161 edge mortise. Mounting is through-bolted through the door, and the chassis uses billet steel spindles on locking functions like this one.
