PDQ XGT150 Grade 1 Exit / Twin Communicating Cylindrical Lever Lock

Grade 1 Extra Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock

The PDQ XGT150 is the Exit / Twin Communicating function of the PDQ XGT Series Grade 1 Extra Heavy Duty Cylindrical Lock.

The PDQ XGT Series is an extra heavy duty cylindrical lock certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1 and cycle tested to over 3 times the BHMA standard. A 2:1 latch bolt throw allows a 41 degree lever rotation with the 2-3/4" backset, which reduces torque and lengthens the life of the lock.

XGT is the step up from the GT Series for doors that face heavy abuse, with 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque resistance and a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate. It is assembled in Lancaster, PA.

Key Features

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the PDQ XGT and GT cylindrical locks?
Both are ANSI/BHMA Grade 1. XGT is rated for 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque resistance, about 4 times the ANSI/BHMA standard, versus 2,200 lbf-in for GT. XGT also uses a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate and is cycle tested to over 3 times BHMA standards.

Is the XGT lock fire rated?
Yes. XGT is UL listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4'0" x 8'0", meeting UL 10C requirements.

What door thicknesses and backsets fit the XGT lock?
XGT fits doors 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" thick (preset for 1-3/4") with a 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset, and it is non-handed, so one unit installs on any door hand.

PDQ XGT150BSN626L – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Exit / Twin Communicating function on the PDQ XGT150 actually do?
The XGT150 is the exit / twin communicating function of the PDQ XGT Series cylindrical lock. It uses a single cylinder, so there is one keyed side and the opposite lever is always free for egress. That makes it the function used on stairwells, high traffic exterior entries, and twin-room communicating doors where you need key control from one side only and unrestricted exit from the other.
2) Will the PDQ XGT150 fit a 2 inch thick door, and do I need to order a different handing?
It covers 1-3/4 inch through 2-1/4 inch doors, shipped preset for 1-3/4 inch, so a 2 inch door is within range with the through-bolt mounting adjusted. Handing is not a concern at all: the lock is non-handed, so one unit works on a left or right hand door without reversing anything.
3) Will the XGT150 drop into an existing 161 cylindrical door prep?
Yes. The XGT Series uses the standard ANSI A156.115 (161) prep for cylindrical locks, so it goes into an existing 161 bore without new machining. Backset is 2-3/4 inch standard with 2-3/8 inch available as an order option, so match that to the prep in the door. The 3-3/8 inch diameter rose will also cover most existing wear rings.
4) Will the XGT150 latch into the strike plate already in my frame?
The latch throw depends on backset: 1/2 inch with the 2-3/8 inch backset, 9/16 inch with the 2-3/4 inch backset. The standard strike is an ASA 1-1/4 x 4-7/8 inch, which is what most commercial hollow metal frames are prepped for. If your frame has a smaller prep, order the T-Strike at 1-1/8 x 2-3/4 inches or the full lip strike at 1-5/8 x 2-1/4 inches instead. The faceplate is 2-1/4 x 1-1/8 inches on the 2-3/4 inch backset and 2-1/4 x 1 inch on the 2-3/8 inch, beveled 1/8 inch in 2 inches.
5) Can the PDQ XGT150 go on a 3 hour fire rated stairwell door?
It is UL 10C listed for 3-hour fire doors on single doors up to 4 feet by 8 feet, which covers typical stairwell openings. It also complies with ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1 for the lever operation.
6) Can I key the PDQ XGT150 into my existing Best, Falcon or Schlage system?
Yes, several ways. Keyed functions take a Schlage C compatible conventional cylinder (SCC is the standard keyway), small format IC cores compatible with Best, Falcon and Arrow, or Schlage large format IC cores. The LFIC option is only available with the Philadelphia lever. Keyway choices at order include Schlage C, C-K and E, Arrow AR1, Corbin 59A1, 60 and L4, Russwin D1, Sargent LA and RA-RC, Accentra (Yale) E1R and GA, Falcon E-R, Kwikset in 5-pin only, and PDQ restricted TA. Keying runs from keyed different and 0-bitted through keyed alike, master keyed, master keyed to existing bittings, and construction master keyed. Two keys ship per lock.
7) Should I use the PDQ XGT or the GT cylindrical lock for an abuse-prone entry?
Go XGT where the door takes real abuse or vandalism risk. Both series are ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 1, but XGT resists 3,000 lbf-in of lever torque versus 2,200 lbf-in on GT, adds a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate, and is cycle tested to over three times the BHMA standard. For a normal interior opening without that abuse exposure, GT already meets Grade 1.
8) What finishes and lever styles can I get on the XGT150 to match the rest of my building?
Seven finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 619 satin nickel, 622 flat black, 625 bright chrome, and 626 satin chrome. Levers are Philadelphia, Boston or Miami, solid diecast on 3-3/8 inch wrought brass roses with concealed screws. If the corridor side and room side need different finishes, the split finish option handles it (designate outside trim first, then inside).
9) Does the PDQ XGT150 work for an exterior door in a Florida hurricane zone?
It is approved for the Florida High Velocity Hurricane Zone under PDQ Product Approval FL 21376, with a design load of plus or minus 70.0 PSF on a single 3 by 7 foot door. For coastal exposure, the weatherized finish option is available, but only in 626 satin chrome.
10) What add-on options should I specify for a hospital or imaging suite door with the XGT150?
Three options matter in healthcare. The lead-lined rose (LL) is for X-ray and imaging room doors. Antimicrobial coating (AM) covers the inside and outside lever and rose, and is available in 626 satin chrome only. Tactile abrasive coating flags hazardous rooms for the visually impaired and can be ordered inside only, outside only, or both sides. A dust box for the strike is also available.
11) Can the XGT150 signal to an access control panel when someone exits?
The Request to Exit (REX) option is available on the XGT150, with an industry standard Molex connector (ISMC) option for the wiring termination. The lock itself is mechanical, not an electronic lock, so REX only provides the exit signal back to your panel, it does not control the lock.
12) Why does the XGT150 lever rotate 41 degrees, and when do I get 65 degrees?
With the 2-3/4 inch backset, the 2:1 latch bolt throw gives a 41 degree lever rotation, which cuts operating torque and extends lock life on heavy traffic doors. The 65 degree rotation applies with the 2-3/4 inch latch used for double doors. Either way the lever meets ADA and ICC/ANSI 117.1 operation.
13) What is inside the XGT150 chassis, and is it made in the US?
Heavy duty diecast chassis with an investment cast, chromated cold rolled steel and stainless steel mechanism, billet steel spindles on locking functions, and a 13-gauge steel anti-rotation plate. Fronts are stainless steel or wrought brass. The lock is assembled in Lancaster, PA.
14) How do I write the part number for a specific XGT150 configuration?
PDQ builds the number from the function, lever and finish. A Philadelphia lever in 605 bright brass reads XGT150PHL605D. Backset, strike, keyway, keying and any coating or prep options are called out alongside it on the order.
