1) Will the Pemko 120 interlocking threshold work with my existing door, or does the door have to be prepped for it?
An interlocking threshold only works as a pair. The 120 sits in the opening and the 61 J hook mounts to the bottom of the door, and the hook drops into the threshold's channel when the door closes. That means the door bottom has to be prepped and the hook fitted to it. If you're replacing a plain saddle threshold and don't want to touch the door bottom, an interlocking type is the wrong choice.
2) How wide an opening does the Pemko 120 threshold cover, and can I get it for a double door?
The 120 runs from 24 inches up to a 185 inch maximum length, so a standard 36 inch single opening and a pair of patio or French doors are both inside the range. Stocked cut lengths are 36 inch and 72 inch. Measure the finished opening jamb to jamb, not the door slab.
3) How much does the Pemko 120 threshold raise the floor, and will the door still clear it?
Height is 7/8 inch, with a 4-1/2 inch width across the sill. Undercut the door so the bottom clears that 7/8 inch rise plus the J hook, and remember that on an interlocking threshold the hook rides down into the channel rather than over the top. 4) Is an interlocking threshold better than a plain saddle threshold for a leaky exterior door?
