1) Can I use Pemko 303V gasketing on a fire rated door assembly?
Yes. The 303V is fire rated under UL 10C positive pressure and carries an Underwriters Laboratory 4L10 listing, which is what an AHJ looks for when gasketing goes on a rated opening. That makes it usable on rated door assemblies in commercial buildings without swapping to a separate smoke or fire gasket product.
2) Does Pemko 303V door gasketing qualify for LEED or a low-emission school or hospital project?
The 303V is GREENGUARD Gold certified, the emissions standard specified for classrooms and healthcare spaces, and it is also air infiltration tested. The Eco-V insert is what earns it: a bio-based vinyl formulation rather than standard vinyl. If your spec calls for GREENGUARD Gold gasketing on a rated opening, this is the version of the 303 Series that satisfies both at once.
3) Is Pemko 303V gasketing OK for an exterior door exposed to sun and weather?
Not the best choice for a fully exposed exterior opening. The Eco-V insert is resistant to adhesives and most mild cleaning solutions, but Pemko recommends limited UV and weather exposure. Use it on interior openings, vestibules, corridors, and rated doors under cover. For a door taking direct sun and rain all day, look at a weatherstrip built for exterior exposure instead.
4) Does Pemko 303V seal the bottom of the door too?
No. The 303V is perimeter gasketing for the head and jambs only. The gap under the door still needs a separate door bottom, sweep, or automatic door bottom, and where a threshold seal is required that is another part again. Buying only the perimeter gasketing leaves the largest single air path in the opening unsealed.
5) What is the difference between Pemko 303AV and 303DV?
Finish only. The 303AV is mill finish aluminum, the 303DV is dark bronze anodized aluminum. Profile, insert, length, and the fire and GREENGUARD listings are identical between the two. Pick 303DV where the frames are dark bronze or painted dark and you do not want a bright aluminum line showing at the stop; 303AV matches clear anodized and mill aluminum frames.
6) Will Pemko 303V gasketing hold up in a high traffic building better than standard vinyl weatherstripping?
The Eco-V insert is formulated with higher compression and tensile strength than standard vinyl gasketing, which is what fails first on doors that cycle constantly, the insert taking a set and stopping sealing. On a corridor or entry door in an office, school, or apartment building that means fewer re-gasketing calls. It is rated commercial, not residential.
7) I need to gasket a 7 foot door but my frame stop is shallow. Will the 303V still work?
Check the stop face before ordering. The 303V retainer needs 1/4 inch of flat stop face to sit on, and the assembly stands 7/8 inch off that face toward the door. On a shallow or unusually profiled stop there may not be a landing for the retainer, and on a frame where the door leaf sits close to the stop the 7/8 inch height can interfere with closing. Measure the flat width of the stop and the gap between stop and door face first.
