1) Do I need a reflector or a separate receiver to use this sensor?
No. The 13106A6513 is a diffuse reflective sensor, so emitter and receiver are in one body and it senses light bounced back off the target itself. There is no reflector to mount and no receiver to align across the opening. If your target is shiny, dark, or the gap is long, a retroreflective or through-beam type is the better choice, because diffuse sensing depends on the target surface reflecting enough light back.
2) Is this sensor rated for washdown or outdoor use?
It carries NEMA 1, 3, 4, 4X, 6, 12 and 13 plus IP69k, which covers high pressure, high temperature washdown as well as dust, rain and temporary submersion. 3) Can I wire the DC output of this sensor directly to a PNP sourcing PLC input?
No. On DC the 13106A6513 is an NPN open collector, meaning it sinks current to the negative rail. A PNP sourcing input card will not read it correctly. Either use an NPN sinking input card, or run the sensor on AC where it switches L1 through a relay. Whichever way you wire it, keep the load at or under 300 mA.
4) How long is the attached cable on the 13106A6513, and do I need a connector or junction box at the sensor?
The sensor ships with a 79.2 ft PVC cable already attached, so there is no quick-disconnect to buy and no need for a junction box at the sensing point.
