1) How do I set the color temperature on the Prescolite LiteBox Edge-Lit downlight?
Field-selectable, with an integral switch on the back of the driver. You pick 2700K, 3000K, 3500K or 4000K at install, before the fixture goes up on the plate. That means one part number covers a whole building, and a property manager can match warm 2700K in units against 3500K or 4000K in back of house without stocking four SKUs. Change your mind later and you drop the trim, flip the switch, and put it back.
2) Will the Prescolite LBSES-RD work on my existing 0-10V dimming system, or do I need a different driver?
The integral driver handles both control types. On 120 to 277V it dims 0-10V, dim to off. On 120V only it takes Triac or ELV phase cut down to 5 percent. So a commercial job already wired for 0-10V works as is, and a residential or multi-family retrofit on an existing forward or reverse phase wall dimmer also works, as long as that circuit is 120V. Dimming is specified flicker free.
3) Can I use the Prescolite LBSES-RD in a shower, a covered exterior soffit, or a bathroom?
It is wet location listed and suitable for covered ceilings, so a shower, a covered porch soffit, or a bath ceiling are all in scope. The fixture is cETLus listed to UL1598. The lens is diffuse polycarbonate, which is what keeps output even rather than throwing a hot spot down at the pan.
4) Does the Prescolite LBSES-RD meet California Title 24 and JA8 for a permitted job?
Yes. The LiteBox Edge-Lit downlight meets California Title 24 High Efficacy per JA8 2019, and carries ENERGY STAR, T24, JA8 and cCSAus. Color rendering is 90+ CRI with R9 greater than 50, which is the part inspectors and spec writers on residential Title 24 work look for alongside the JA8 claim.
5) Will the Prescolite LBSES-RD run on 277V in a commercial building without a separate transformer?
The integral driver is universal 120V to 277V, 50/60 Hz, so the same fixture drops onto a 120V residential circuit or a 277V commercial branch with no voltage-specific part number and no step-down. Power factor is 0.9 or better with less than 20 percent THD. Note the control limit: 0-10V dimming works across the full 120 to 277V range, but Triac and ELV phase cut only apply at 120V.
6) My junction box is a shallow pancake box. Will the Prescolite LiteBox downlight mount to it?
No, not if it is shallower than 1-1/2 inches. The LiteBox Edge-Lit round downlight calls for a 3-1/2 inch or 4 inch octagonal or round junction box with at least 1-1/2 inch depth, fire-rated boxes included. A standard 1/2 inch deep pancake box does not give the driver room. Swap the box for a 4 inch octagonal at the required depth before the fixture goes up.
7) Is the Prescolite LiteBox surface downlight IC rated for direct contact with attic insulation?
Yes, IC rated and suitable for direct contact with insulation. Because it surface mounts to the J-box rather than dropping a can into the cavity, there is no housing sitting up in the blown insulation to begin with, but the rating covers you where insulation is packed against the box.
8) Can I get the Prescolite LiteBox Edge-Lit downlight in black or bronze instead of white?
The fixture ships with white trim in both 4 inch and 6 inch. Non-conductive decorative color trim accessories are offered separately in White, Black, Silver, and Brushed Oil Rubbed Bronze, so the color change is a trim accessory ordered alongside the fixture, not a different fixture part number.
9) How long before I have to relamp the Prescolite LiteBox Edge-Lit downlights across a property?
