Pro-Lok AO-16 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What vehicles is the Pro-Lok AO-16 car opening tool made for?
The Pro-Lok AO-16 is a Corvette-specific opening tool covering 1984 to 1996 Corvettes. It is not a general purpose tool for other makes; buy it when Corvettes of that generation are part of the work you take on.
2) Is the Corvette 84-96 tool a slide-lock tool or a long reach tool?
Both descriptions apply to the Pro-Lok AO-16. It works as a slide lock tool and is grouped with long reach tools, so it reaches down into the door cavity to work the lock mechanism rather than hooking an exterior handle or button.
3) Will one Pro-Lok AO-16 cover my whole lockout kit, or do I need other car opening tools too?
The AO-16 is a single vehicle-specific tool, offered in one model only, and it addresses 1984 to 1996 Corvettes. A working lockout kit needs additional Pro-Lok tools for other makes plus a wedge and light to see into the door.
4) Is the Pro-Lok AO-16 a professional locksmith tool or something a car owner would buy?
It is rated for commercial use and sold as a locksmith automotive opening tool, so the buyer is a working locksmith, roadside service operator, or fleet shop, not a one-time DIY user.
