1) How thick a door will the Pro-Lok hole cover plate work on?
Up to 2-1/4 inches. The EHC-100 is adjustable across that range, so it handles a standard 1-3/8 inch interior door and a 1-3/4 inch entry door with the same part. If your door is thicker than 2-1/4 inches, this one won't close up on it.
2) Does the filler plate cover both faces of the door, or just one side?
Both. The EHC-100 is a two-piece adjustable cover that spans the door and closes the bore on each face, which is why the thickness range matters. Adjust it to your door thickness (anything up to 2-1/4 inches) and it caps the hole from both sides.
3) What finishes does the Pro-Lok EHC-100 hole cover come in?
Three: brass, chrome, and prime coat. Brass or chrome if the plate stays visible and needs to read with the rest of the trim on the door; prime coat if you're painting the door and want the cover to disappear into it. For a rental turn where the door gets repainted anyway, prime coat is the one to order.
4) Can I use a Pro-Lok filler plate on a commercial door instead of patching the hole?
The EHC-100 is a residential-duty cover, and it's sized for the bore diameters you find in residential and standard commercial doors, 1-1/2 and 2-1/8 inches. For a light-traffic office or apartment door it does the job. On a heavy-traffic commercial opening or a fire-rated door, a cover plate is a cosmetic fix, not a rated patch, and you should be filling and repairing the door instead.
5) I'm doing a batch of unit turns, can I buy the Pro-Lok hole covers in bulk?
Yes, in prime coat. The prime coat version is offered in bulk poly bag packaging as well as retail packaging, which is the format to ask for when you're covering holes across a whole property rather than one door.
